the seafood is where it's at! you might be interested in mobile, as well. it was, quite literally, the first "new orleans". there's also the USS Alabama and USS Drum here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile,_Alabama

aggrolites= one fun night and a badass show. you should visit new orleans, i'll drive over and show you all the good places to eat. like Willie Mae's Scotch House, which has some of the finest fried chicken known to man. or central grocery, home of the original muffaletta. if you like to eat, that is the city for you. cuisine, culture, and tradition out the ass.

meth is a plague down here, it's like crack in compton in the 80s. new orleans is a great city to visit, but a terrible place to live. unless you actually enjoy the sounds of ak-47s at 5am. they have about 6 or 7 venues, a few decent local bands, badass reggae nights, and they get good touring acts. in the past year i have seen the aggrolites, bad manners, lee perry, and toots and the maytals. i had the oppurtunity to go see dropkick murphys, but i'm not irish and all my "irish" buddies kinda played em out for me. but as far as a visit, new orleans is a badass town.

birmingham tends to get a good one every now and then. mobile has em few and far between. i'd book more shows, but i can't really afford touring acts at the moment. people here tend to burn out into rockasilly or folky bullmess. your only real options to see quality acts is to be down to travel. new orleans is 2 and a half hours away, baton rouge is about 4 or 5, birmingham and atlanta are both about 6-7. so that's what you're faced with in this area haha. unless you like folk or electronica, then you're good to fuckin go!

haha we don't allow those types to come, and i don't even care about sharp or none of that. it's just growing up down here, you have no tolerance for it.

shit i ain't even in LA. anymore, i'm in alabama. but you're right, new orleans and baton rouge get most of the good shows. where i'm at (mobile, al.) used to have some good shows, but it's all electronica and hippie shit now. pensacola, fl. gets a decent show every now and then. and surprisingly, mississippi gets a few decent ones. our only oi!/punk band, fend for yourself, is out of mississippi.
