Here's tons of footage of cops doing what they do best.... http://www.myspace.com/video/boilingfrogs/the-largest-street-gang-in-america/54162036
The most common thing in all these incidences is these cops don't know how to hold their shit in a confusing situation. The account about the guy with the burns is really gruesome and both of those cops are just complete fucking idiots. Giving stupid people weapons and authority is never a good idea.
Yeah but in order to attract quality recruits you have to pay them a decent wage, give them benefits and spend time and money training them.....
I don't know -you retire at 45 keeping half your pay for life. And if you were in the military you could retire before turning 40 with $50k a year without ever playing "win for life". Power corrupts though, there would always be bastids doing that kinda stuff for free. PDs should do a self-policing poster campaign in all the police academies. Something like, - "You act like an asshole, you will get cauget - think of the type of life you'll lead in the joint" ...maybe a picture of a bar of soap for good measure.
You need training to know that someone who just survived a crash and sustained severe burns is not going to be lucid and that you shouldn't tase the shit out of them? I figured that sort of thing was common sense. Cops need to know they are accountable for their actions and that they aren't above the law. It is understandable to lose your shit a bit when you are facing an armed criminal; that is the sort of situation where you can bring up the training cops receive. There is no excuse for battering, tasing or killing unarmed civilians.
Thats not the main thrust of my argument, the main thrust of my argument is that if you pay a very low wage, do not have a good benifits plan you are going to attract the people you least want to be in a position of power.
oh the police.....only out for themselves and protecting the property of the ruling class. notice they never do this stuff to the super rich always working class kids and people. the gang that bullies and intimidates the have nots and supports the haves.
this makes me so glad i live in the UK, although our police are not perfect the things that happened on those clips would never happen here, or at least i hope they won't
Hmmm I wouldn't be too sure about that! While this stuff is extreme, I'm pretty sure English cops are just as good at covering for themselves as these fuckers are.
Time to wake up. http://theduckshoot.com/blog/police-brutality-uk-ppolice-taser-punch-unarmed-man/ http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-woman-during-arrest-at-nightclub-439351.html http://www.havenvideo.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=70270 Plenty more where that came from.
How many of the ruling class do you see out there running guns, selling drugs, getting into gang fights, robbing stores etc.? They're not out there trying to make the world a better place for rich white people who live in entirely different neighborhoods. They're there trying to keep shitty areas as safe as they can be. Shitty areas that are made shitty by the people who live there. It's unfortunate when cops get out of hand and abuse their power. As Mel posted above, yeah, a dude who's stunned from a car wreck should be expected to not know exactly what's going on. The police are expected to use better discretion and be more level headed in times of extremely high stress than your average citizen, and when some hot headed fuck with loses his shit and uses more force than neccessary, it is a shame. But let's face it. Police are a neccessary evil. If we didn't have a government ran force keeping the peace, it'd be a bunch of vigilantes out there weilding guns and lynch mobs hanging any/everyone they thought deserved it. Cops are just a functioning arm of the government. They're enforcing the laws and upholding the standards that are set out by people in higher places. If the cops have too much power, it's because a group of politicians gave it to them. It's like blaming the Marines for the war in Iraq. I firmly believe that the cops who do take use of force to a level that isn't required are NOT punished harshly enough. A cop who beats the shit out of someone once they're on the ground in hand cuffs should face much higher punishments than if your average joe did it. But here's the thing: If a cop tells you to shut the fuck up and get on the ground, and you don't, and he tases you, you should have done what you're told. They have the lawful right to neutralize a percieved threat. Plain and simple, like it or not. Something you hear a lot in the military is if you're told to do something you don't agree with, you don't argue about it. You do it, and when it's over THEN you channel your grievances in the appropriate manner. I'm in no way defending the fucked up shit that cops do. But someone posting a video montage about how evil the police are isn't going to sway my feelings. When was the last time someone posted a video montage about all the cops that have been shot when pulling over some drug dealer, or when responding to a domestic disturbance issue, or for trying to break up a fight? All in all, cops have a dangerous job. And they do it knowing that a lot of people hate them because they're a symbol of authority. But it's a case of a few bad apples, if you ask me.
Didn't Pagel put up a video of a cop pushing a guy down with his hands in pockets. That later died of sustained injuries. I thought that was in the UK
you gotta be kiddin bro......who do you think the big drug runnin, dope slingin fuckers are, the local yokels on the street? The part of this video that confirms what I have thought about the cops my entire adult life, is the the part where the dudes goin around askin how to file a complaint....ya see the reaction he got and it's typical. Protect and serve is a fuckin meaningless slogan. Yeah cops have a dangerous job....big fuckin deal, ya knew that when ya signed up......I'll never understand this fuckin hero worship we have in this country for cops, the military etc. for doin a job that folks knew damn well goin in could get ya killed, and for a fuckin pay check...lets be honest at least...no one put a damn gun to anyones head.
I'm not arguing that there are corrupt cops out there. But shit like this is fear mongering if you ask me. Yeah, rise up and revolt. I'm all for it. But people want to blame cops for the state of afairs, and turn the entire populace against them.
The thing is that many, many cops are not "enforcing the laws and upholding standards". So many of them are blatantly breaking all sorts of laws and consistently getting away with it... Again, why should you have to drop to the ground simply because a cop has told you to do so? As seen in many instances in that video, people were being ordered to give their names, and to drop to the ground even though they had committed no crime and were not "a perceived threat" in any way. Cops seem to think that they have absolute power over the citizens who they work for. If you have the audacity to refuse to jump to their commands, they will fuck you up..... are you seriously defending this shit? A soldier follows orders from his/her superiors, that is expected. The average citizen should not have to follow orders from any fucking government employee! If there's some accident or a dangerous situation, then sure you follow the orders of the emergency services, be they firemen or cops etc. But to jump at the orders of some badge wearing moron, simply because they are in what they perceive to be a position of authority? Fuck that! I can understand your position on this, I don't agree that it is a case "of a few bad apples" anymore though. People don't hate them simply because they are a symbol of authority, well maybe some do, but cops are hated because of their actions...they bully and belittle, beat you and sometimes even kill, yet they are rarely held accountable... Almost every single day you will find a news story about yet another police beating/shooting/humiliation and nothing ever happens to the officers that commit these crimes... I know some lads who are cops, they're nice enough guys but I am under no illusions as to what they are like when it comes to "the job". These fuckers will never grass on a colleague, no matter what heinous shit they get up to...that's not something to admire in your police force is it? Anyway...this shit angers up the blood too much...I need a drink
Agreed. Many are. Many, but not all. Videos like these just serve to stir the pot. Because the cops are the authority. If a cop tells you to do something and you don't, and you go in front of a judge and try to plead your case, the judge is going to say "you should have done what you're told". I'm not defending the actions of the cops. I'm saying people who don't comply with the orders of a cop and bitch about the out come are pissing up a rope. But they ARE in a position of authority. The police don't simply uphold the law, they are, in effect the law. You and I and most everyone here will agree on this point. As I stated before, there isn't enough of a police force for the police force. And it's true, cops that abuse their power are rarely if ever punished accordingly. I just have a hard time feeling bad for people who complain about the outcome of their actions, when they know full well what said out come is going to be.
I guess that this is what it's come to. The police (like Judge Dredd) ARE the law! They have been given way too much power and now have a subservient frightened populace to control... They are protected by Judges and the whole legal system, their word will always outweigh yours. The whole thing is a disgusting abuse of power...the "good" cops who let this shit happen are just as guilty in my opinion. They may be out there, putting their lives on the line for a better tomorrow etc. etc. but I don't trust a single one of them....when push comes to shove each and every one of them would fuck you up given half a chance....grrrrr
