Ben Franklin also said “he that would live in peace and ease, must not speak all he knows, nor judge all he sees" . so as you throw your'police state' labels around - realize that you are a pampered middle class american kid that has only seen 1% of the world and the best part of the world at that .
but more specifically, Red White Blue Pride – what imaginary place do you have pride in ? You ever lived in 1776 or will you live in 2076 ? Were you proud of the USA in 1988 - were things done right back then ?
'Cause you know, Crow doesn't think things's been going right since 1913 , way before the mighty Gaylord in your avatar could spear his commie archenemy. In fact Crow does not think that the USA and the USSR are any kinds of opposites at all, as they were controlled by the same puppeteers. It was just a show for 70 years, give or take.
So as you are not proud of the government, the police, the media or the blind sheep we call the American public, what is it you’re proud of - your local diner and your personal interpretation of the constitution ?

why do you make the pompous assumption that he has never been anywhere except his own little corner of the world? It's precisely this kind of attitude and smuggery that folks like yourself and others around here espouse , that garners you scorn. If you want to argue or discuss something with me then do it, but this petty little shit you pull like the above long winded soap box narrative is ridiculous.

Alright first of all you really don't know shit about me so fuck you for makin generalizations you know nothing about. Here you are again fuckin mouthin off about me if you have issues with what I see goin on challenge my ideas otherwise just spewin insults shows your fuckin stupidity. Second of all what this country was founded on is what I have pride in the values and hard work and sacrifice that went into founding this nation. Third as for your comments on Old Crow he can speak for himself.

You might do well to drop the wiseass tone.

While I don't agree with the political stance of Mother Jones on most issues, they are a well known and widely respected news source. In this case, they are reporting on personal privacy and security from unreasonable search - issues which I care about and we are in agreement on.
Did you miss the link in the article?

First: This hardly explains why the TSA was investigating DISEMBARKING passengers.
Second: Random unannounced searches are neither effective as a deterrent nor as a safeguard because they are spread thin and rarely encoutnered.
Third: If airport level security was instituted at all forms of public transit, commerce would grind to a standstill as the bulk of the population spent upwards of three hours daily waiting for a security screening.

See above. I have never stated that terrorism is not a real and valid concern - but I have and will continue to say that the methods employed by the TSA are next to useless in addition to being invasive and, in many cases, illegal.

Unlike you, I've been all over this hunk of rock, and the US security since the inception of the TSA is hands down the most restrictive, invasive and thoroughly useless agency I've ever dealt with. Even Sri Lanka - during the Tamil rebellion - was easier. Singapore - an actual police state - was easier to deal with. I don't object to security - I do object to wasting time, resources and energy on an ineffective and often annoying system.

I will buy the ‘inefficient’ argument. I wil go along with people hired by the TSA are often the bottom of the barrel in their abilities and training. The process is inefficient because of the intrinsic political correctness and needless paperwork that accompanies every government endeavor in a democratic society. I’m sure that Singapore airport was easier to navigate and certainly cleaner(chewin gum is still illegal, correct?). Yep, the US government makes a mess of things. But making a mess of things does not constitute a deliberate sabotage of our way of life; it is not a proof of some shadow government working behind the scenes or a calculated attack on the American rights as Crow implies in his every post.

I don’t think you, Mr. Hoon nor probably Professor agree with his premise, yet you don’t call him on it.
It’s beyond some isolated articles from ProzacDaily or Transsexual Maoists gazette – it’s kinda of a global world view. I would love to hear some stories about Singapore but I guess it’s less captivating than another story about the US government turning this country into the police state.
Grouch seems to be firmly in the conspiracy corner, but it could be just gas, I don’t know.

Singapore still has a thousand dollar fine and possible caning as a penalty for the possession of chewing gum, yes.

Crow and I don't necessarily agree on all the fine details - but we agree on most of the broad strokes. In a nutshell, free and democratic government is under assault by a consortium of power brokers and financial institutions, and governments - not just in the US - are chipping away at civil liberties. This is further complicated by the socialist agenda of the United Nations.

It's actually something that's quite routinely discussed among the expat community here in Tokyo, with a very often recurring theme being how most Americans seem to not only tolerate the abuses but to actually be blind to them. You'd be surprised at how clear the picture is from outside the fishbowl. We were all surprised - and disappointed - when the major shareholders of the large investment banks in the US weren't strung up from lampposts over the sub-prime scandal.

know whats really fucked up about this? The fact that Pistole told Congress in SWORN testimony that the TSA had a policy of NOT searching children under the age of 12....in other words he lied under oath....just like that criminal scumbag piece of shit Holder did recently in the Fast and Furious case.....and yet nothing is done, nothing.....but yet Amish farmers are raided for selling milk and more recently a woman is threatened with arrest for growing a garden in her own yard. The next time someone tells me I'm an extremist, or a "conspiracy theorist", I fully plan on going to jail that day......

I'll have to get me a copy of that transcript for the next time I fly through the US, since it's likely I'll be bringing my boy with...

Crow and his half truths - when did Pistole say that ? or you inadvertently forgot to insert the word "enhanced" in your emotional outburst?

when I fly with my kids I explain that security is important and we might have to take off our shoes and we might even get searched or there might be a booth that blows air and is kinda like an x-ray. It was a five minute conversation and my 5 year old was excited about the whole concept. In the airport he was asking TSA guys all kinds of questions the the guys were professional and engaging. So Hoon, it's all in the presentation - you tell your son that you guys have a 50-50 chance of making it alive past the nazi US custom - you'll have one scared kid; you explain the facts and importance of security and he will have fun.
but back to Crow - the kid in your story kept setting off the metal detector…..
so enough demagogery - let's imagine you’re not just bullshitting on the internet – you are in charge of airport security -
Some kid sets off the metal detector ….twice. what do you do ? give me some concrete alternatives to patdowns.

man how does that kool aid taste???? you are doing exactly what they want. so fine you feel its ok to trade your freedom and right to privacy and freedom from unreasonable search. and you turn it into a game to keep your kids from being afraid? man your kids and you should be afraid. its a simple "pat down " in an airport for your security now where does this stop. there taking diapers off of 95 yr old ladies. i dare anyone cop , TSA or anyone to try to touch my five year old daughter or remove a diaper form my toddler. in the name of security???? there are lines and the TSA has crossed them all and people like you are making it easier for them to draw another line and take one step closer. keep it up man. If they told you that 95 percent of the people that were shot were shot with there own gun would you give up your gun when they asked for it?? this is the same arguement your giving up your freedom to avoid risk. ill keep the risk and my freedom I believe i do a better job of protecting my self my kids and my freedom anyway.

coolaid ?as fas as I know coolaid was offered to his followers by a man who also felt he was living in a police state, except he was a bit more honest - he got his ass on the plane and created his temporary utopia elsewhere.
You are whining about patdowns in the airport for godsake after the detector went off twice. Are you for real ?
I repeat - offer alternate airport security techniques
anyone who throws the moniker "police state" when describing this country is dillusional.
I sympathise with your work/living situation that you described elsewhere but that was the only honest, non-propaganda stuff that came out out of you.
Everything else that comes out of you and crow and Red(plus a tiny bit of white and blue) are just slogans, labels, obsession and paranoia.
I said it before but it's worth repeating that while you guys think of yourselves as vigilant patriot warriors, your points of view are firmly in line with ideas of the extreme left and right;, you're as commie as they come.
So you can go ahead and keep believing that you are just sharpening "the sword of truth that was dulled down" by the nazi regime.
Shit, a sword of truth ? What is this - Narnia ?

Did you seriously just try to lecture me on how to manage my kid in an airport and infer that I would intentionally wind him up before a security check? You really are a fucking asshole sometimes...

    LOL
I understand that the moderators are the hardest skindeads around and almost every remark is a possible assault on their authority but where did you get a ‘lecture’ out of a statement above , a suggestion maybe. The family in question did not speak to their kids prior to the trip at all. stop being a pussy.

what exactly are you stnading up for man??? are trying to convince people that everything is all good and there is no problem with the state of affairs in teh good loe US of A??? If you believe that man I am happy for you. sometimes I wish i could unsee what i have seen and unlearn what i have learned first hand not through rumours or messageboards or media. but first hand. but i can not in good conscience accept the bullshit that is fed to us everyday. look at the world through a rifle scope sometimes and you get a diferent picture. when people dont know you are there they do fucked up shit
