i had the same thing happen with a lambretta tv175. the dude had one leg, had the thing stationary for 40 years or sdo, didnt even know the top speed but decided to keep it after he offered it to me probably only because i showed some interest. i've been watching the scene here and what things go for for quite some time and i paid a bit but about $1000 less than i thought i would. i had to grab this cause its straight, runs, in registration so no holes in the floor or chassis, everything is alread on it (as rebuilds cost a million bux in small bits, they all add up), from what i can see its so straigh that i'll just paint over the old paint after a light sand, i can use the origional front end drive line with the right adapters for some modern brakes, mags and lowering. weld in a cross member to box it off and slip this new engine in with a bolt in kit, sell the old engine, too fuckin easy. i've been laughing to myself all night

where this guy is is pretty inland so the salt air hasnt really been attacking it, he aint the origional owner though so who knows where the car has been...

Shit man with something in that good a shape you'd stand to make a pretty penny doing a straight restoration. Prolly go for $60-80 Gs American if you did a nice job. You just dont see cars that old in that good a shape these days.

yeah, restos are pretty boring tho man and i got a mortgage, so my chances of going better in my price range ever are slim to nill, since like i said i gotta factor in aswell all the small parts which is what you're paying the most for in the end. a chassis and some bodywork is X-amount and thats all well and good, but as we all know, factor in every small detail and you find yourself paying an arm and a leg, so hell, i'm just gunna molest this puppy..

It would probably only go for that if it were kept stock. Fiddling with cars like that severely lowers the value of them.

How soon till Mrs BRE lets you back in the house?

Sweet Doug, make sure there's no dingo parts still on the undercarriage.

BRE..
If you're gonna chop it,here's my suggestion..

1:Cut car clear in half, right behind the front door pillar, right thru to the frame.
2:Take whole rear of car, move up to front of car,fish-mouth & sleeve weld the frame(obviously, the drive shaft is out, along w/ fuel&brake lines.
3: section roof to graft to rear section, then channel body over frame, say 4-6 inches, basically make the body flush with the bottom of frame.
4: 3" chop front to back.

I built my 55' out of a nice four door,& the doors/q-panels/doorpillars/wheel wells out of a two door sedan...I'll never do that again!

ahaha yeah.. i'm looking at the chop this way actually man, cut the roof off, cut it in sections at the flatter parts, weld the windscreen and back windscreen parts back on, then just mark what the overhang will be on the flatter parts and cut away. less room for error without the wilder mods.
