Yepp, I learned me a life lesson today. When you have a huge fucking dog make sure her crate is latched before you leave and close all your doors. I was out for 40 minutes this morning and I came home to all the blinds in my house being destroyed, quite literally chewed in half. Stupid fucking dog freaks out when Im gone. I swear Im going to put her on puppy prozac.

How old is the dog? I have heard on a few occasions that if you have a puppy that tears the place up while you're out a you can leave an old t-shirt you had slept in the night before the comforting scent of their master will help keep them calmer... or just invest in that puppy prozac.

My cat kept me up all night last night mewling like a bitch. I woke up this morning to liquidy cat puke all over my fuckin hallway. Fuckin stupid cat. I fuckin hate that cat. I wanna kill that cat.

Someone give me a REAL good excuse to tell my kids as to what happened to their cat. It's either that or i'm gonna lose it one night and they'll wake up to a cat laying dead on the floor with its fuckin rotten little neck broken. And i won't have a good excuse. Then they'll hate me forever.

Rachel, get rid of that stupid fuckin dog.

What you have to do (since I guess you already have the crate) is put the dog in the crate - leave like normal but just be gone for 5 mins or so...I take a walk around one block from my house, then come home like nothing big happened, let the dog out and be normal - not all excitable. Do this a couple times, and after about the 4-5th time - take longer - 3 blocks or so...this is good for you too! haha - then always remember to act normal and not make a huge deal about being back - but let em out - give em a treat or whatever if you want...food is always good for getting them to remember (not all dogs associate food and behavior, but 80+% will).

At least that's one method of working out seperation issues - sometimes it just never works - it's one of the hardest things to get a dog past....and it sucks.

sounds like your cat was trying to tell ya something! haha - my cat drank from the toilet once and we had that tidey bowl blue cleaner crap in it - haha, same thing but add bubbles all over the place..he was sick for a few days. Keep an eye on em - could have gotten into some bad shit and get really sick on ya.

Well besides the puking, he meows constantly all friggin night, every night. Usually I have to take him into the bathroom, put him in the tub, soak the hell out of him and then he'll shut up. I've tried everything, that's the only thing that works.

I got a cat because they're quiet.. pfft.. asshole cat.

I hate cats, tell them she had cancer and died in her sleep. I cant get rid of the dog, I am so frickin attached its stupid. She has had 5 homes already and this is the end of the line for her. I'm just glad all she ate were the blinds those are 5 bucks at walmart, I just bought a new sectional and it is thankfully still intact.

EDIT--Holy shit Jenny you are fucking mean, but I'm laughing my ass off.

My ex-roommate had two cats and one of them was moody as fuck. Sootie must have got pissed of that she took off for the weekend to her boyfriends without changing the litter box- and I wasn't about to do it.
I can home drunk as fuck and my bed was soaking wet- the fn cat pissed in it. He got my roommate worse though, he liquid shit all over her bed then walked around on it- so there was shitty paw prints everywhere.

i just picked up a stray cat a few weeks ago. he had been hangin out in our backyard chasing birds around. so one day like an asshole i give him a can of tuna fish and he slept on our porch forever. i got him shots and 'fixed' and now we let him inside. i used to fucking hate cats, but this one is pretty badass. i love dogs, but sometimes they need too much attention and i feel bad when i dont give them enough. the cat just hangs around all day and does its own thing

See? It's cool when you get a cat like that. I've had a few. I'm more of a dog person myself but I guess I just didn't get lucky with the "piece of shit cat" lottery this time.

I tried making him an inside outside cat but he's even too much of a bitch for that. Fuckin asshole cat.

Is your cat fixed? That will tame most of them down real quick - if it is already - then ya..that sucks! haha I was blessed with Lisa coming home one night with not one, but 2 kittens....7 yrs ago...then my step daughter just moved back in with us, 2 more cats and ya....I'm a dog person too. So now we're at 4 cats and a 100lb Yellow Lab. haha I don't know HOW it's working, but so far it is.

This still seams retarded to me, but try putting dirty socks on the dog when you leave... It should calm the dog down while your gone knowing you have to come back for them. It sounds dumb, but I have seen it work.

what i also did was to put on the radio (preferably a jazz station) while i'm out. calms him right down. i forgot about that because he doesn't need it anymore. maybe you could try leaving the radio on whatever station you listen to.

well, you could have gone out and gotten a bigger tank for your mutant koi (with deformed front fins that looked like legs), told the fish you were going to get him a bigger tank for him before you left (just to make sure he was still alive before you went out), bought all this shit for the new tank, lugged the goddamn shit all the way up the goddamn stairs an hour later only to see the fish dead on the bottom of the tank when you went to go set up the new one.

Pete that is a fucked up story. I think I saw pictures of him

Now that we're on the subject of dogs and their issues.. mine goes out to the yard and barks at nothing then he doesn't want to come in. I have to practically chase him inside. It really sucks when it's late at night and I dont want to go out there

I've never had a dog that attacked blinds, I didn't know it was that common

Shes a great dane, and I have only had her for a week. She came from a rescue group and they warned me that she was a velcro dog. Poor thing has heartworms and is about 20 pounds underweight, I can see her spine and hipbones. To add to it I practically have to force feed her ass, and the vet just tells me they have picky stomachs. Right now she eats half a chicken mixed into her kibbles with the chicken broth once a day, she needs this three times a day until she gains weight. I cant even put her thru the heartworm treatment because she is underweight.

You have to remember your dog is part lab also. We have a 1 yr old lab and as Erin said use the crate and leave periodically. I swear this dog is attached to Erin and goes nuts when he leaves the house without him. As a matter of fact this little toad just got sent to his crate for eating my new shoe. Give him a good chew toy (other than shoes )

My uncle raised great danes before he died - if he had one that was off its food, he used to mix some canned gravy into its food for flavour. If that wouldn't work, he'd go through a bunch of different Campbell soups, see if the pooch liked the smell - if not, that can got eaten for, say, breakfast, and the next can got tried out at lunch. I remember his favourite, Spock, used to love cream of mushroom.

Seeing Marcs post reminded me of feeding time for our dogs that come in under weight. Buy better brand dog food , if you are on a budget get pedigree dry vs ole roy, etc and if budget is a concern mix some dry food with cream of mushroom soup..dogs love that shit and you can usually get it sometimes for 4/$1.00. If you have money to spend on the dog Bil-Jac dry and their frozen moist is damn good stuff. Also, about 1 time a week give the dog 1/2 a vanilla or plain flavored yogurt (single serving size) so it can help with the digestion and gas (it coats their linings)

Rachel - poor you! I can sympathize with dog problems!!
I'm having dog trouble, too. We got a new pup recently -- he's a catahoula coon hound cross -- notoriously *dominant* dogs. Our last pup was a golden retriever x, (a very submissive girl dog, and we got her 14 years ago, before we had kids, etc.) New dog, Doyle, is a really stroppy, dominant boy. I don't mind him trying it on (and the usual pup stuff I can deal with) but he bites (for real) when we disturb him while he's sleeping, and snaps at us (I've had bleeding hands several days running) if we try to get him out from under things or if he's eating a bone. We are trying all sorts of techniques to show that WE are the big dogs... anyone got any suggestions? All you pit owners - they are dominant-type dogs, right? How do you show them that you are alpha (including kids are alpha)

I have a lot of experience with dominant bully breeds. Put down exactly what the problems are, and what you are doing now and what you have tried in the past, in a pm and i'll see if i can help.
