I'm applying for a fancy government job and need to explain why I left one job... how does one say "I got fired for bullshit reasons provable in documentation and was happily unemployed for a summer" in a good way?

I'm so sick of looking for a job...

its probably best to be short and sweet leaving alot to the imagination, that way if you make it to the interveiw you will have a chance to personally clarify things before they make a false judgement. example.

reason for leaving? discharged through no fault of my own.

No one would believe that because of what it was... I have yet to figure out how I was hired there anyway.

Re-evaluating your carrer track is a good one. Started my own buisiness is one that I have used to cover for my, um, unwilling seperations of employment. I usually say roofing or contracting and that more well established firms were out bidding me.

The only thing that sucks about that is you get asked to do alot of side jobs or "do you think that you could take a look at...."

Hee heee... at the time yes, but those people were idiots and said one thing when I was fired and another on paper, when they should have said nothing.

I hated it anyway. It was right after I got laid off and took a job just to get out of the house. It was awful and I have yet to figure out why I worked there or even applied.

I never even put reasons for leaving a job on a resume, i only tell if they ask and i usually just make up some long crap with big words and no one cares.

If you were fired for a bullshit reason, say you were fired for a bullshit reason. why try and make it look good and then a month later they question it and you explain it was bullshit? Just tell them up front you were fired but it was bullshit and you can prove it.

She said she was fired, smart one. Learn to comprehend.

As for the question, I'd leave the fact that there was a court case out of it. Conveniently forget to mention it. Employers don't like to think about employees or potential employees bringing legal action against them. That said, if they specifically ask about it, tell them, but I wouldn't willfully volunteer such information.

since you already stated you were fired, just put that your employment was terminated due to personality differences you and your employer experienced during your time of employment.

Anytime I had to fire someone and they did not deserve it I told them to use that for future jobs. For all they know you were being yelled at, etc and you didn't like it blah blah.

And remember I can see if the comic book shop I go to needs more help. They sometimes need part timers! Pike is seriously a decent place to find work..unfortunately it's a hell of a drive for you.

If it was closer I would be all about it, I do like the comics after all.

It's the parole job, but I think I need a Bachelors, which I am slowly working on...

That's after it cooled a little to about 1400-1500 degrees. It normally burns at 2100 and white hot. The bottom part of the door at that position is about 6 feet off the ground for reference.

Speaking as someone who's been in a hiring postion many a time, Shaun has that bang on. Put down that you were laid off if you absolutely HAVE to put down soemthing.

I never even put reasons for leaving a job on a resume

More good advice.

If you were fired for a bullshit reason, say you were fired for a bullshit reason. why try and make it look good and then a month later they question it and you explain it was bullshit? Just tell them up front you were fired but it was bullshit and you can prove it.

Another point - do NOT mention that you took a former employer to court if you can avoid it being brought up. It makes new employers nervous. My own boss knows that my first stop after I resign or get dismissed here is the labor relations office to file the claim for all my unpaid overtime. But he didn't know that until I was off probation.

As for the question, I'd leave the fact that there was a court case out of it. Conveniently forget to mention it. See, Skones and I agree.

That being said, don't lie either. Being "laid off" is a stretch, but I wouldn't consider it an out and out lie. If you're questioned directly, be honest, but not vindictive.

Something a bit weird about the terms of my probation.

I was allowed interstate and international travel, and permitted to keep my passport, because of the civilian work I do.

If they decide against me I can take a job overseas, but I cannot go in the army to go overseas, weird.

Boston > NYC because their turnstiles don't hate me. Then again, I do have family in Brooklyn... Including my favorite cousin.
