Completely should have apologized and made sure the kid was ok. Felt guilty? Maybe a tad but it's not your fault that the kid was running around. Now if it was in the middle of the street, then I would say not your fault. If it was in between lunch tables on the back patio, then totally your fault.

Whether or not it was your fault though, that doesn't mean you can't be a human being and apologize for hitting a toddler with your bike.

yeah, the kids fine, , i thought about saying it till one of the chicks started saying shit under her breath.it was the 4th time i passed by, and they are all just standing there watching me come up the path then the guy sticks his foot out in front of me instead of stopping the kid, i swerved and CRASH! after wiping out on cement and making sure he was fine, i kinda limped away all bloody legged.. ugly looks wont make me sorry when it was an accident.

The fact that it was an accident should have made you sorry. Who apologizes for something they do intentionally?

On top of that, who wouldn't say sorry to a child? That only thing that kid knows is that you ran him over. Some kids don't understand mistakes at the age of two, but be certain that he's got a hold on the concept of pain and bad people. Showing that you care enough to look after him and even saying those two seemingly trivial words make a big difference in how he sees the world.

are you fucking kidding me? you apologize to the TWO YEAR OLD, and then say something to the fucking parents..jesus christ, what is wrong with you?

FILTHYANGELS
02-15-2010, 04:11 PM
but...for the record, i did FEEL BAD ... i suppose i should have, but in the moment of being kinda pissed (and scatterbrained from the fall)at the situation i didn't wanna stick around. hopefully it wasn't something he will remember. it all happened within about 2 min or less.

you apologize to cover your ass at least that way you don't seem like a cold hearted bastard if any of the irresponsible adults tries saying it was your fault to the authorities.

Some years ago I was going into a diner and the door closed behind me.(one of those doors that closes automatically) It was winter and pretty cold outside so I didn't look behind me when letting go of the door since I just wanted to get inside quickly. Then when standing at the counter a guy walks past me and says something like "How nice of you to slam the door in my daughter's face"... He had a like 5 y.o. girl with him. I didn't apologize... and I don't think I should. He should look after his daughter and she should be old enough to be able to know not to headbutt a closing door.

Wouldn't apologising to the child and then telling off the parents for not supervising be the right thing to do?

you can't blame a 2 year old for being a 2 year old...i would make sure the kid is ok an commend the parents on doing a wonderful job...at this rate he might make it to 3..it lets them know they fucked up..

Next time, run over the idiot's foot and spare the kid.

Also, of course you apologize for running over a child. Until you're a parent of a mischievous toddler, you won't understand their cunning ability to escape your attention. Whether or not the parents could have done something different (and I'm sure they could have), you still apologize for hitting a child.

It all depends on the situation. I never let my 2 year old run around where people were riding bikes or a car was moving. I would check to make sure the kid is ok and then I'd let the parents have it.

Haha, he stuck his leg out instead of stopping you? Were these people drunk?

A kid could get seriously fucked up this way. It is odd they didn't do anything to stop the kid when everone knows children behave like stupid drunks all the time.
