Has anyone else noticed most kids popping up nowadays getting into the whole skinhead thing are soft internet kids? I'm speaking of kids in the US now but don't know how it goes everywhere else. It seems like there's this obsession with Chelsea or West Ham and other stuff that really doesn't matter in the States. I actually ran into a kid carrying an umbrella in case "shit goes down". Going all Mary Poppins and shit. Skinheads used to be hard, now I want to cut the boot laces off of most kids I see today. It used to be you had to get out there and live the life, now you log on to it.

the internet can make anyone anything - online. the fact of the matter is, this is a scene and it's not just local...you need to go outside, go to shows, go to bars, go out and MEET people to make friends, just the same as if you're not into a subculture...you can rack up as many skinternet friends as your precious buddylist can hold, but the fact of the matter is, if no one's ever met you in real life, you ain't shit but a little picture and some words next to it...

i've met some great friends online that turned into real life friends...the internet is great for giving potential, that's it..you still need to carry that into the real world...

1. The internet has been helpfull to our scene and theres no denying it. Zines, record reviews, music archives, and forums. The list of pros could go on and on. Hell if it weren't for the www, no one outside of NC would know about my band!

2. What's destroying our scene are the people who contribute nothing except dozens of pictures of themselves, in the same position, in all of their gear. The typical "internet skin" pose. When I started hanging out with skinheads, I was like 18 and was looking for friends and people who shared common interests/beliefs. Sure fashion was A PART of it, but that wasn't all that mattered. I know people in real life that live in this fantasy world of mystical internet skinheads fighting off dragons and shit to rescue princess skinbird and it makes me wanna grow my fucking hair out. But in the long run I know as long as I stay true to myself the rest can eat all the dicks in the world! Wheew! Sorry for the rant, it had to be said.

The internet is like anything in this world be it guns, technology, politics, whatever. These things by themselves are all neutral and have 150% potential to be the most positive, helpful, uplifting, or all around beneficial thing for all. But its what people do with it. Particularly whats in question here is what the the weak minded, spineless, gutless, bullshit individual does with it.

A viritual world is the perfect place for virtual people who have virtually no ability to deal with reality to make believe and pretend they are whatever the fuck they wanna be whenever they want. Which Ive also noticed with these types doesnt last long before they jump on the bandwagon to something else or become disinterested damn quick when face to face with the real deal due to the nature of their superficial identity crisis, and lack of self worth/respect.
