Alright, everyone with a heartbeat has to have a dream car/bike/scooter(?) that they'd love to have.
One day I'm gonna win the lottery and then I can kiss all you bitches sayonara, but in the meantime I gotta make do with daydreaming; and this is what gets me harder than Chinese arithmetic:

Aussie example of a '30s based Lincoln Zephyr:

My second choice, an (Australian) 1974 Ford Falcon XB Hardtop, the same car as was based on in the Mad Max/The Road Warrior flicks:

If any of you other wsn skinhead superstars got a particularly fine piece of automotive erotica that you'd give your left gonad to run a possessive hand over, feel free to enlighten the rest of us plebs.

Mine is a show car, not a daily driver. I just can't get on the ball on making it "legal", plus with my back injury I can't really drive it cause it sits so low to the ground and doesn't really ride that comfy. I love this car. It's the second fastback I've owned. This one is a 67, my other one was a 73. My dad's love for old VW's rubbed off on me.

There are too many nice vehicles out there to decide on one. Shit, you got me thinking though.. If I had to combine all my interests in a vehicle into just one, I'd probably be an El Camino. I ain't picky on body styles, 350 4bbl would suit me just fine but I ain't gunna complain if it has a big block haha

5'7" So it wouldn't be that bad bein crammed in the cab. I know for a fact how small they are. And the chop on this one isn't that bad either. I think I would have stretched the cowl a little longer for some leg room, but I think it still looks good.

Lucky. I'm 6'2 and can't fit even somewhat comfortably into a stock height cab until 1935.

I dislike how the cowl slopes down-too reminiscent of model T's for me. I don't mind it on my roadster, but with the closed cars I don't think it flows well.

Yeah, I think so. The 5 spokes look really good. But i think I'd have gone with some steelies with center caps or artillery wheels with center caps.

It's pretty hard to go wrong with 40 Ford wheels with some stock hubcaps. Simplify the car. If it's a postwar styled hot rod, I'm only in stylistically up until about 53-54, so the steelies make me happier than the 5 spokes.

All these guys are older dudes that were building cars in the 60's and 70's and still do it. NY and the rest of the East Coast have some really great cars. I don't think they get enough coverage of that area and the builders there. Rolling Bones are about the only ones that get a ton of attention.

Combination of the two. We do all fab in house, and use mostly original parts (we've got several acres with early fords and parts scattered everywhere). Paint goes elsewhere, as we can't deal with the enviromental regulations. Build our own motors, and drive the hell out of them.

i have most of the cars i have ever wanted i just have to put them together. thinking of turning my '36 chev sedan into a 2 door though. i would like a ford single spinner one day but i wouldnt say its a 'dream'. i prefer non-conventional rods as i get tired of seeing 32's, 34's and tri-5's. i have:
26 chrysler RPU
36 Chev Sedan
59 Chev 4 door belair (dont like the 2 doors for some reason, where the fins start half way up the side just doesnt look right compared to a 4 door. maybe converting a 4 to a 2 would look cooler but not enough to bother doing it)

have been finding myself attracted lately to late 30's and 40's coupes. and i really like the front clips from the 40 dodge pick up's too. chopped channelled ratted its the great foundation for a different but tough rod.

We've got one of the best plating companies in the country here. 1930 body sittin on 32 rails with a 57 Caddy motor, weiand 3x2 intake modified to fit with 3 Rochesters sittin on top. My kinda ride.

I like the mid 30's. I think a 36 coupe has the sexiest lines of any of the Ford cars from the 30's. A buddy of mine in NY has one with just the slightest chop and its one gorgeous car.http://image.automotive.com/f/featuredvehicles/11050887+pheader/0811rc_03_z+1936_ford_coupe+front_passenger_side.j pg

yeah the rear ends are off the hook on the 36 coupes and not being a 32/34 they arent that expensive. i like any of the later 30's cars except the humpbacks. my sedan has a flat back that rules. i am in the process of filling in the rear windows completely, i've frenced a number plate in the rear pretty heavily and once i get the cash i want to french 12 '59 caddy lights in the back, 6 each side, 3 each side of the mudguard crease line/peak.

first time i saw a 39 ford grill i didnt like it but these days the more i see it the more i like. those coupes would make a great rat/sled crossover type thing built in the aggressive sled type of style.

yeah thats cool. i appreciate everything except ricers. i wouldnt own most but i can dig it all. my thing is home built rats or anything with an aggressive in your face appearance, doesnt have to be period correct, dont have to have to live by scene rules in fact i prefer a bit of nasty here and there, just give it a crack and enjoy it. that and flat paint. i do prefer full fenders where wheels are concerned though. fenders and grills are what caught my eye and dragged me to the 20's and 30's rides.

I don't mind a rat if its a work in progress. But I hate to see someone take good steel and trash the fuck out of it and put it in a show. I've seen some chops that were terrible. Really bad welds, bad cuts, and some cuts that weren't even welded back. And they think it looks good. Now if you are gonna take a car and just make it look mean as hell and leave the patina, that's fine. But don't try to sell me on shitty work. You should bring your car to the Redneck Rumble here in Sept. It would go over good. A lot of rats at that one. And most of 'em are really cool cars. But some of 'em are just a rollin pile of junk barely held together.

as far as the newer the better is concerned, yeah man i hear ya and the 36 will have *gasp* a late model efi v6 in it. i'll be running a bonnet over that (ofcourse!) but yeah i just need atleast one thing i can go down to a part store and get parts and actually get where i am going most if not all of the time. thats the plan anyway. everything down to the radiator has been adapted in stock configurations in order to be bolt in replacable on the road. i am sure with my luck something will go tits up but its worth a try heh.
eitherway that car is still a couple years off. i am focusing on the 26 rpu for now as i plan to build the whole car for under 5k so expect some roughness and rule breaking. thats the one i posted in the random thread which i think you (or maybe someone else) asked if was running fenders over that IFS (and yeah i am). i got the diff leaf spring mounted, the front ifs mounted, steer rack mounted, radiator mounted, engine and tranny mounted, cab steeled out and so far it owes me about 2600 so... so far so good.

This is about the only post I've seen of yours that I agree with. Old Holdens are tough as fuck. Though why you'd want a Premier when you can get a Statesman for not all that much more, I've got no idea, doesn't make sense to me.

Fuck the Corolla thing though. Without having sussed it out (like why would I), seems to me the engine bays aren't exactly huge and you'll need a shit load of mods to make it work, tranny tunnel, etc., etc.
As much as I wouldn't do it on a bet and I despise the things, if you want cheap but serious horsepower you're better off doing a 13B turbo with a mild port job.

haha yeah man, i remember renting a geo metro a long time ago...it literally shakes from turbulence when a car passes by...but a hell of a bargain at the rental though
that's exactly what I was thinking...a car that any random guy on a coupe would underestimate, but will smoke them at the 1/4 mile...that's my definition of fun :)

we preferred the more "sporty" body i guess...you're right though, the price difference between the two isn't all that much.

old Corollas are RWD, so it's got a tranny tunnel...as far as engine bay is concerned, i think it'll fit a chevy small block just fine...a tight squeeze no doubt, and might need to move the firewall a couple inches back...i haven't really calculated or mocked up the install but IF it works, that's gonna be one scary ricer yo! I let my imagination get the best of me most of the time :)

edit: I saw one at a show sporting a celica engine (i think it was 3SGTE) and yes it fits the engine bay...but I dunno I just like the v8 rumble better

we preferred the more "sporty" body i guess...you're right though, the price difference between the two isn't all that much.

Umm, I guess. Still doesn't make sense to me. If you're not going for factory performance as in a Monaro (big bucks though) then why not just go for the base Kingswood model, you can do it up and it'll look a million bucks. But if you want classic luxury then go the Statesman, it's not "sporty" being LWB but they're tough as fuck done right and the Premier is just the poor man's version of that..

old Corollas are RWD, so it's got a tranny tunnel...as far as engine bay is concerned, i think it'll fit a chevy small block just fine...a tight squeeze no doubt, and might need to move the firewall a couple inches back...i haven't really calculated or mocked up the install but IF it works, that's gonna be one scary ricer yo! I let my imagination get the best of me most of the time :)

Yeah, I know they're RWD, '76 Corolla was the first car I owned (back in the 80s and was a hand-me -down from my Dad). When I said trans-tunnel, if you're wanting to put a powerglide, or turbo 350, etc. in there, at a guess (as I said, I haven't checked it out) you're going to have to do some serious massaging there. Firewall was the thing I forgot to mention, but yeah, I'm pretty sure you'd have to move that back. Whatever, it's not impossible, but I'm not sure why you'd expend all that effort on a Corolla.

edit: I saw one at a show sporting a celica engine (i think it was 3SGTE) and yes it fits the engine bay...but I dunno I just like the v8 rumble better

Can't argue with that.

i'd love to bring it to the redneck rumble dude, but its in australia with me... lol. i know what you mean about the chops. i havent chopped any of my cars and although every now and again i think about doing the 36 i wont. the windscreen is already small enough so i'm just filling the back windows in flat to give the illusion of a smaller roofline. i see that redneck rumble in the mags and it looks like a great show.

as far as the newer the better is concerned, yeah man i hear ya and the 36 will have *gasp* a late model efi v6 in it. i'll be running a bonnet over that (ofcourse!) but yeah i just need atleast one thing i can go down to a part store and get parts and actually get where i am going most if not all of the time. thats the plan anyway. everything down to the radiator has been adapted in stock configurations in order to be bolt in replacable on the road. i am sure with my luck something will go tits up but its worth a try heh.
eitherway that car is still a couple years off. i am focusing on the 26 rpu for now as i plan to build the whole car for under 5k so expect some roughness and rule breaking. thats the one i posted in the random thread which i think you (or maybe someone else) asked if was running fenders over that IFS (and yeah i am). i got the diff leaf spring mounted, the front ifs mounted, steer rack mounted, radiator mounted, engine and tranny mounted, cab steeled out and so far it owes me about 2600 so... so far so good.
If its a car, I don't mind working on it. that's all part of the hot rod experience. But my truck needs to be in good shape. I pull trailers with bobcats and forms and torn out concrete and whatever else.

They're Buick. Late 50s up through 64 or right around there.
Thank you sir. I wasn't sure. I didn't get all the specs on the car. And I'm still not at the point that I know the difference between drums.

haha yeah man, i remember renting a geo metro a long time ago...it literally shakes from turbulence when a car passes by...but a hell of a bargain at the rental though
that's exactly what I was thinking...a car that any random guy on a coupe would underestimate, but will smoke them at the 1/4 mile...that's my definition of fun :)

There was a guy in Gallatin, TN that had an old 80's model Z car that had a 350 squeezed in it.

Those Datsons had a looong engine bay. Same as an English Ford Capri from back in the day. Is way different to the same era (let alone later) Corolla.

Long engine bay is one thing. The width is a whole different story. And also fitting the steering around it and everything else. When he opened the hood, it was all engine from side to side.

I hear ya. Getting headers in there as well has gotta be a bitch. That was sorta my point with the whole Corolla thing.

My little brother decided to put a 351 Windsor in his Mustang 5.0. I kept telling him that he'd need to mess with the steering to make it all fit. Ended up that the exhaust manifold was sitting right on the steering shaft. He got on it one night and ended up in a ditch because, you guessed it, the steering shaft snapped because the manifold hit it.

Ouch. I have to say though, it sounds cool what he wanted to do, though I'm not sure why he would have wanted to go the Windsor route instead of a Cleveland. Way more room to get that rocking and rolling with bolt-on manifolds, heads, etc. to my mind anyways, though that may just be an aussie thing. We persisted with the Clevos long after you guys dropped them. And personally, I totally get the retro tech thing, but wanting to go the other way like your brother just doesn't compute for me.

I've got an EFI 5.0 Windsor mill in my XR8 Ford Falcon (we've kept going with that model name after you guys dropped it way back when) but that's a nice little motor. Heaps of torque, a limited slip diff and a live rear axle in a not so heavy shell make for some serious fun in the wet. Honestly, I don't know why he didn't just pump up the 5.0. There's so many easy (and cheap) way to get that thing shaking it's sort of a no-brainer, if you know what I mean.

The Clevelands are getting harder to find around here. Plus I think he just got a deal on the Windsor. To be honest, I'd have just pumped up the 5.0 like you said. Would ahve been easier and cheaper. He was just young and hard headed at the time.

Yeah man, you're right about that luxury...after a few years on the Premier I actually wanted to swap for a Statesmen. But I guess family life got me to prioritize on more important things. Most of our Holdens are Premiers though, we got another Premier in white, a black Premier HJ, and a black Kingswood...Monaros are just out of the question, it'll set me back more than a new jap city car.

You're asking the wrong person man... I can't imagine what it must have been like to see that stuff. I have a hard time looking through my Don Montgomery books-they actually depress me. I would give anything to be out there on the dry lakes in the 30s or just postwar.

I hate nostalgia. Waste of time, but jeeeesus, why don't we have anything like that?

You don't walk away from shit like this in old cars. I'm betting who ever was driving got the steering column through their chest. They told me that if I hadn't had my lap belt on when this happened that they would have written me off.
