Are any of the early UFC types still a valid threat these days? I know of course that the Royce and Tank and Shamrocks are out, but what about some of the more obscure ones? Remco and the like? Is Tank completely finished? I've been out of the loop.

There pretty much all done, they're skill is not up to par. Maurice Smith is one that would still be good if youth was on his side. Oh yeah, don't forget Mark Coleman, he'll be fighting Fedor soon. Fedor is gonna kill him. The biggest disapointment is Don Frye, while he got stronger and physically better, somehow, magically, his skills diminished. But he's still a warrior.

Frank Shamrock is still cut like ginsu and hell on the mat.

It depends what you mean by old school. Almost all of the guys that fought in UFC 1-4 wouldn't even last a round with today's top MMA fighters. I still think Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock can compete, they just aren't anywhere near the top of the sport they helped make so popular.

Well they could hold their own against a lot of UFC fighters, just not the cream of the crop.

If they can then why dont they?.... Why dont they have regular contracts and do fights beside these big grudge matches.

You have to remember that both Tito Ortiz and Matt Hughes are at, or near, the tops of their weight class. I've seen both Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie fight against other opponents who weren't so highly ranked and do very well.

Matt Hughes embarassed Joe Riggs, is that a sign that he's too old to compete in MMA? No. It's a sign that Hughes is much better, at this point in time, than Joe Riggs.

Because these big grudge matches pay more... UFC sucks, it's like WWF now, it's all about the money.

Watch PRIDE, they give you the best fight matchups in the world and they don't make you wait for them either.

They do. Ken and Royce have fought in PRIDE on a number of occasions. In Royce's case, he is a huge draw in Japan and gets paid a lot more to fight there. UFC pulled out all the stops to get Royce to compete in UFC. Shamrock, I think, does it more out of a hatred for Tito Ortiz than anything else.

Yeah, he's a total moron. I'm sure he gets paid well but not as well as he could be. Moron. Meathead. Juice monkey.

Yeah, I'm not sure Ken Shamrock is all there. The training he had his team do during TUF 3 was a joke. And people wonder why The Lion's Den doesn't produce any good fighters anymore.
