not that anyone gives a fuck. but its cancelled.
Attached is an email from the promoter of Hazel Street Pub... Unfortunately this is out of my hands.. I tried to move the show for Friday night but the other venue is booked. I can move the show to Saturday afternoon and it will be an all ages show.. or I can move some bands to Saturday August 11th with Sekond Skyn which is a 21+ show. Both these shows are at Cagney's in Parlin, NJ. Let me know if you can do either or which one you prefer ASAP. Sorry about this.
To Promoters, Customers, and Bands,
This past weekend on Saturday night The Hazel Street Pub was raided and closed down due and entertainment license issue and we got caught serving underage. We are usually right on top of this but the underage drinker wasn't even a customer it was a member of the band that was playing in which we were unaware of the situation. Either way, the damage was done.
Now I know some of you that were there were disappointed for a number of reasons, cops breaking your balls, the fact you didn't get to see your band, the fact your band didn't get to play, or just the fact that the cops pulled some bullshit on the night of a benefit. I would just like everyone to know I personally take full responsibility for the events that occurred. As for the issue with the entertainment license, the bar might be taking legal action against the town. We will know more about this later on in the week. The issue on this right now is that anything that is booked for the next two weeks at hazel street pub is cancelled. Also anything else that is booked at hazel street, is aware of what is going down, because you too might also be cancelled in the upcoming week.
As for Saturday though, just keep in mind that these asshole cops could have done this before or after the show, they chose to do it during the benefit. All in all, because a $350 license renewal was "late", which was not even the case due to the fact we got an extension due to paper work issues, they were willing to go come in and ruin the benefit, because a small amount of money wasn't there. Did they do it to prove a point? I doubt it, but you never know. Did they just not realize the fact that it was a benefit? Possibly, but I doubt it. The fact is they knew music was going to be there that night, the fliers for the night posted it, and when you walked in to pay the cover it was posted enough. But be clear, this wasn't a bust by the actual Clifton police. It was a specific bust by the Clifton ABC (alcohol beverage control). The police actually let a lot of people off with breaks where they could of waited and DUI'd everyone and taken people into the drunk tank.
The benefit is for MS, and my mom has had it for 15 of the 22 years of my existence. This situation does touch me on a personal level and my ass is really chapped because my own mothers life has put her on chemo and taken away the ability to let her walk on her own. So do not think that I do not share the rage that some of you have spoken out about.
The weekends of Aug 3rd. 4th. 10th, and 11th are currently closed officially. The following weeks will be going by a week to week basis, but there is no way Hazel street will be legally ready for these shows.
