the berkeley is undergoing extensive renovations, unfortunately. i love that place. i always feel like i'm gonna be harassed by some supernatural apparition whenever i go in there.

from what i hear, the empress (aka gay hotel) is a pretty nice place, fruit loops aside. allegedly, they leave you alone. this is just what i've heard as i've never stayed there.

heres the hotel detail. it looks like the gay hotel is the official place to be, but i also heard the berkley carteret is open again.

At long last, a word about hotels. The Berkeley Carteret where we got discounted rates last year will be closed for renovations this year.

The SoleRunners will be staying at the Empress Hotel at the corner of Asbury Ave and Ocean Ave (approx 4 blocks from asbury lanes). There phone number is 732-774-0100 and there standard room rate is $129

One block away from the Empress is the Flamingo Hotel at the the corner of 1st Ave and Kingsley (3 blocks from Lanes). The Flamingo is $85 and there # is 732-776-7400.

2 blocks in the opposite direction from the lanes at 6th ave is the Oceanic Inn. There rates are $75 a night and the phone # is 732-988-0300.

One other option is the Crystal Inn. The Crystal Inn is about 2 miles from the lanes on the circle at the end of Asbury Ave on route 35. They are $80 and $101. There phone number is 732-776-9000. For those of you who may opt to stay here and still want to drink the night away it is only about a $4 cab ride from the lanes. The best thing about this hotel is that it is right next door to Centerfolds go-go bar.

Of all these hotels the Empress is the nicest and is just a little more than all of the other hotels and is very close to the lanes. There are many other hotels, motels and B&Bs in the adjoining towns for those who want more options. We recomend the Empress but all of the hotels listed above still have rooms available as of 8/5 when I'm posting this. I also recomend booking by the end of this week to assure availability. Sorry it took us so long to get this info up. We'll see everyone in 2 weeks.

hey whats the best way to get there from manhatten.. been that way before by car but dont have a ride and have to leave from work.. is there a path train that goes near or maybe someone can pick me up at the path??

The Asbury Park NJ Transit station is about a mile away from the Lanes. The last train leaving Asbury for NYC is at 12:06.

The Allenhurst Train station is also about a mile away from the lanes. The last train leaving Allenhurst for NYC is at 1:37.

It was a god damn blast of a shitshow! I don't have any pics because I'm a moron, but a lot of people were taking them so I'm sure they'll show up.

I went swimming at 4 in the morning because it SEEMED like a good idea. The 3 hour drive back to my house in sandy, wet jeans sucked though hahaha.

I only went for Saturday and didn't get there until about 6, but there were only 8 or so scooters by the time we got there. It was quite a rally. I'm sure there were more earlier, but it made me laugh.
