http://www.punknews.org/images/frontpage/gazing20070819.jpgIt's Sunday August 19th, 2007. Nothing much happened this week. See you next Sunday!

The people must have something good to read on a Sunday

Alright, alright. I'll concede that a few things of note were announced, primarily tours. The hearts of the Punknews audience continue to beat irregularly as the thought of the Lawrence Arms (http://www.punknews.org/bands/thelawrencearms) upcoming tour with American Steel (http://www.punknews.org/bands/americansteel) and Larry Arms offshoots the Falcon (http://www.punknews.org/bands/thefalcon) and Sundowner (http://www.punknews.org/bands/sundowner). The first slate of dates (http://www.punknews.org/article/25059) for the trek were announced this week. Squat punks Leftover Crack (http://www.punknews.org/bands/leftovercrack) are touring as well, talking along with them a motley crew of bands (http://www.punknews.org/article/25059) that includes Toxic Narcotic, I Object and Introp5pect (http://www.punknews.org/bands/intro5pect). Silverstein (http://www.punknews.org/bands/silverstein), From Autumn To Ashes (http://www.punknews.org/bands/fromautumntoashes) and Strike Anywhere (http://www.punknews.org/bands/strikeanywhere) have their own tour in the works (http://www.punknews.org/article/25111), set to kick off this October. Bad Religion (http://www.punknews.org/bands/badreligion) and UK labelmates Gallows (http://www.punknews.org/bands/gallows) will support their respective recent records (http://www.punknews.org/article/25150) with a tour alongside the Briggs (http://www.punknews.org/bands/thebriggs). Tiger Army (http://www.punknews.org/bands/tigerarmy)'s got that same thing in mind, teaming up with the Street Dogs (http://www.punknews.org/bands/streetdogs) for a jaunt of their own (http://www.punknews.org/article/25132).

John Reis of Rocket From The Crypt (http://www.punknews.org/bands/rocketfromthecrypt) and Drive Like Jehu (http://www.punknews.org/bands/drivelikejehu) fame will return to the stage and studio soon with his new act Speedo (http://www.punknews.org/article/25124). He's teaming up with bandmates from Hot Snakes (http://www.punknews.org/bands/hotsnakes) and Swami act CPC Gangbangs this time out. The Loved Ones (http://www.punknews.org/bands/thelovedones) are in the studio as well, set to record (http://www.punknews.org/article/25082) under the loving direction of Pete and Bryan of those Jersey moochers the Bouncing Souls (http://www.punknews.org/bands/bouncingsouls). We had details on a number of upcoming releases this week. This includes the title and recording details on NOFX (http://www.punknews.org/bands/nofx)'s live record They've Actually Gotten Worse (http://www.punknews.org/article/25087), a release date for Angels and Airwaves (http://www.punknews.org/bands/angelsandairwaves)' I-Empire (http://www.punknews.org/article/25086), and track listings for both the Dropkick Murphys (http://www.punknews.org/bands/dropkickmurphys)' The Meanest of Times (http://www.punknews.org/article/25092) and Coheed & Cambria (http://www.punknews.org/bands/coheedandcambria)'s next album (http://www.punknews.org/article/25135) for which I refuse to memorize the title. Epitaph announced their first signing in a while, with the addition of New Hampshire's Our Last Night (http://www.punknews.org/article/25127) to their roster. Aiden (http://www.punknews.org/bands/aiden) posted a full album stream (http://www.punknews.org/article/25117) of their new record Conviction, and you can thank me for not re-posting their nightmare inducing press photo here again. Finally this week we celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the compact disc (http://www.punknews.org/article/25129) by spinning a Screeching Weasel (http://www.punknews.org/bands/screechingweasel) tune on the subject. That's it.

Oh... wait... there was also a minor incident in a coffee shop (http://www.punknews.org/article/25078). Tom Gabel of Against Me! (http://www.punknews.org/bands/againstme) may or may not have been involved. Something about a cruller.

Our Video of the Week (http://www.punknews.org/videooftheweek) featured live footage of Colorado's Signal To Noise (http://www.punknews.org/bands/signaltonoise), the third part of our feature from our recent Gaslight Anthem (http://www.punknews.org/bands/gaslightanthem) tag along. We talked to MU330 (http://www.punknews.org/bands/mu330) frontman and solo artist Dan Potthast (http://www.punknews.org/bands/danpotthast) this week as well (interview (http://www.punknews.org/article/25064)) The fourth edition of Vinyl File (http://www.punknews.org/vinylfile) was a doozy. We chatted with Billy Hamilton of Silverstein (http://www.punknews.org/bands/silverstein) about his Hot Water Music (http://www.punknews.org/bands/hotwatermusic) collection, and dude -- it's epic. We also streamed new music from Philadelphia's the Low Budgets (http://www.punknews.org/bands/thelowbudgets), featuring Joe Jack Talcum of the Dead Milkmen (http://www.punknews.org/bands/thedeadmilkmen), a new track from third wave ska mainstays Mustard Plug (http://www.punknews.org/bands/mustardplug), the new full length from Philadelphia's Jena Berlin (http://www.punknews.org/bands/jenaberlin), and the new record from Toronto's reggae-influenced three piece Bedouin Soundclash (http://www.punknews.org/bands/bedouinsoundclash).
