so i live in a shitty apartment building in a not-so-pleasant part of town. crackheads, gangster wannabes everywhere, you know the deal. however, a huge office building recently went up around the corner, meaning that the properties here are suddenly very attractive to yuppies (the landlords at my building are chomping at the bit to evict people, renovate their place, and jack up the rent as per usual in these situations). apparently some have already moved in, because today as i was leaving the building, there was a man and woman in expensive clothes walking in front of me. each of them were carrying a couple bags of garbage. i didn't pay much attention until i saw that they weren't walking to the alley that leads to the dumpster, but instead brought their trash to an old couple that was nervously pacing beside a caddy. i watched, confused, as the young couple handed their garbage to the older people, then proceeded to turn around and walk back into the building. when i passed the car, i made eye contact with the old man and immediately a look of relief crossed his face. "excuse me?" he asked, "what do people in this building do with their garbage?" i pointed to the alley next to the building and told him that's where the dumpster was. he didn't seem to like this answer, and his nervousness returned as he exchanged glances with his wife. "it's not very far," i said, trying to reassure them. "the dumpster's just on your left at the end of the alley." he shifted on his feet uncomfortably and looked down the street, as if someone would come help him with this problem. i didn't see any point in standing and staring, so i continued walking down the street. as i looked back, i was shocked to see them put the garbage in the trunk of their car and drive away. i'm thinking that these young people were so stupid and/or scared of being robbed that they actually called their parents to take their garbage away! :rofl:

I put a lot of money and time into my house, and by them not taking care of their lot, it actually diminishes the value of MY house .... not to mention everyone else's around theirs ...not to mention makes it unpleasant for me to come home and have to look at my neighbors mess.

I love our neighborhood. About 5 or 6 years ago, it was a complete shithole. All the houses were run down and it was poverty stricken as hell, or so I've been told since I didnt live here then. But you could tell that when we moved in, this place used to be a dump. Now there's refurbishing of houses up and down the street. Our street consists of old black people, middle aged blacks with small children, art student fags, some greeks, punk rockers and us. It's awesome. We still have a decent amount of crackheads and nare-do-wells, but theyre usually just wandering through to a different part of town and knock on wood, we havent had our vehicles broken into so far.

i personally have no problem with yuppies as long as they don't ride bikes, i despise people in cities on bikes. i like shopping at whole foods/wild harvest. yuppie supermarkets are much cleaner and they do make much better neighbors IMO.

I remember when I worked for County Roads I would be up in the middle of nowhere (Bald Mountian) working on some obscure patch of road that no-one could get to without 4WD. All of a sudden like three yuppie couples would come biking down the road in yellow jackets and vests ... wave ... then dissapear down the road?!!

My street has a couple really white-trash families who barely take care of their property. They don't cut their lawn ...just have weeds for a garden... leave all their bikes and shit and toys out in the yard.

I put a lot of money and time into my house, and by them not taking care of their lot, it actually diminishes the value of MY house .... not to mention everyone else's around theirs ...not to mention makes it unpleasant for me to come home and have to look at my neighbors mess.

If you're going to be all white trash and leave shit out in your lawn, go move to podunk nowhere and put everythiing you own out in the yard. You won't be pulling down everyone else's property value in the process.
