No..
No I'm not.
I'll leave it at that out of respect for the "nice" rollergirls on the site.
We'll just say not all are nice..not all clean their cooters...not all deserve all their teeth.

Point me in the direction of some prissy tough asses in your area and I'll do'em right up for you. After realizing they're not the cat's meow cause they can body check on roller skates they'll be more then happy to take home a warm body to practice their geriatric gumming felatio on!
Personally...hockey was my forte..only skates I strapped to my feet and knew if I made it off the ice without bruises I did good that day

i'm with S on this one, i've had a few unpleasant experiences with the drunk horrid hags that call themselves rollergirls in columbus. for being all active and sporty you'd think they hold their liquor better than a bunch of three year olds. that said i think some of the houston rollerskingirls seem pretty cool and more fun/have a good time drunk, rather than a -take your drink from your hand and smash it in your face to teach you a lesson you need you stupid bitch-drunk.

No, I think that whole thing is fucking stupid. You forget, I detest that "grrrrl" power bullshit. No offense ladies who are into it, I just think it's super lame.
Tough women are usually understated and do not need to advertise that fact.
Besides, I am a Mother now. The only time I will fight is if you step to my kid. I got all of my anger out when it was age appropriate, when I was 18. Being pissed off when you are pushing 30 means you are a loser who never learned how to deal, or you never grew out of your teenage angst.

Every roller-girl i've met so far was an aboslute flake. I've met a couple of the Detroit and the Cleveland ones, and they were the kind of girls that really monopolized conversation, were obnoxious....were dressed up in all this pseudo-glam punk sex-pisols style garb .... short skirts with holes in them ...fucked up fishnets ...big teased up hair. Loud mouthed ...shit talking ...
they were the kind of girls i wanted to get away from post-haste.
I like nice girls. The kind that give me a blowjob in the dugout of yankee stadium in 1972 when i have a groin injury that prevents me from playing.

I'm not generalizing, really ..i'm just saying the few experiences i've had with them were annoying. I'm sure there's some really awesome ones out there too.
....And it's only a matter of time before the bad one's influence causes the good ones to get shitty and obnoxious and i'll want to kill them and pee on their bodies as well.

Well, I had no idea either. Haha. I was invited to a team in seattle, but lack of insurance kept me from playing. Then I was pregnant. The Inland Empire is getting a league together, and I planned to try out for that. I don't really see it as tough girl posturing, maybe that's just cause that's not what it's about for me. I think it looks like a ton of fun, and the fact that I've got kids I'm sure will keep me grounded (as in, I'd rather spend an evening with my kids and my man than out getting shit faced and having strangers grab on me.) So all that being said, I'm going to try out for the league here, and I'm going to enjoy the hell out of it, and most importantly, I'll be doing it for myself.

I'm a rollergirl. It's a sport, it's not about being a "tough girl" it's about winning the game. The girls who only want the image don't last long once they get to the point where they actualy have to play. I love the sport and have fun while I'm playing, and that's all that matters to me.

But to some people you don't know you'll be labeled an angry mommy who can't control her anger.
If one thing I learned it's this. Just because your a mom you don't have to supress everything in the world that bugs you. If someone grabs your tit while your out at a bar you have every right to deck them..mom or not. If some jackass trips you at the mall, you have every right to say something to them. I wear my mom apron 24/7..it's what keeps me from beating the hell out of people or getting my temper too inflamed. BUT it doesn't prevent me from being human. If my boys grow up seeing everything roll off moms back they will be spineless men. If they see me get mad when it's appropriate...they too will learn when anger is right and when it's to be applied and how much.

I love playing derby. If we didn't have public bouts, goofy names or skate in fishnets; I'd still practice and play . . . because its FUN. I didn't join for the show. I joined because I love to skate and I'm good at it; plus, I love to play team sports. Its not about relieving pent up anger or the desire to go kick girls asses or any of that bullshit. Derby has motivated me to get back in shape (we practice up to four times a week - 2 hrs at a time) and I've met, and actually like, people that I probably would have never even bothered talking to. Yeah, some are stupid and in it for the wrong reasons - but like another girl said - they don't last long. Plus, being on our an all-star team; I get FREE TRAVEL!
People either love derby or hate it - most people I know who've taken the time to go to a game (especially if the league has been around a while); like it. There will always be the arguments that its not a "real" sport or that its degrading to women . . . you know, whatever . . . people will find something shitty to say regardless of what it is you do.
For those who are interested; this is a pretty good video a fan posted of our Champ Bout - Sept. 10: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMPY3c-a1OI

Yes! A painted track would kick ass. We're tryin to get the guy who owns our rink to do the same. He's about to completely refinish the floor and he could easily paint our track before putting down the roll-on. Right now, we just use the death cones when we scrimmage and we're constantly tripping over them; its retarded - plus, its harder to see when girls are blocking out of bounds or cutting the track.
Our home game with Huntsville either Oct 22 or Nov 12; can't remember which . . . we're playing Tragic City the other date. Our next game is against Sin City on Oct 8 - I'm really looking forward to that game; they handed us our ass when we went out there. It'll be better to play on home turf. We played in a warehouse/convention center with a dusty concrete floor and actual ropes laid down for the track. A thick rope on the inside and a much thinner one on the outside - it was almost worse than cones. They just played Carolina . . . I'll PM you the recap.

We're still new and haven't had our first bout yet so were hitting it pretty hard right now. We want to be as good as possible so we don't look like dip-shits:biggrin: . Our ref is actualy there as much as we are, right now he's kind of coaching too- like I said were still getting it all together.,
you only have 1 ref??? how is that possible? we have 7, soon to be 6
ps- where is this ladies forum? i feel like i am missing out

Us too - two jammer refs; three penalty refs; and a head ref . . . we also have three line refs who watch for dirty shit on the outside.

No..
No I'm not.
I'll leave it at that out of respect for the "nice" rollergirls on the site.
We'll just say not all are nice..not all clean their cooters...not all deserve all their teeth.
