I really just don't like Rap but I have to admit that I do admire the use of loops and overdubs and samples. It definately is an art the way those artist can put all of that shit together.
I think that if I could find some Rap artists whose lyrics I liked I probably would listen. I just don't have a very broad knowledge of that scene.

For avant-garde shit check out Awol One. I'd say that dude only records when he's high as a kite the way some of the stuff comes out. Some songs are straight up rap and others are just like some sort of sing songy spoken word.
