Saw it Friday night. I think it's the best movie of the year. Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe were both phenomenal. If this doesn't get several Oscar nods, I'll be shocked.

I'm seeing it tommorow. I need something to drive the memory of the departed, which I just saw, out of my head.

It was pretty bad. What I want to know, is why Mark Walhbarg got nominated for an oscar, when all he did was say "fuck" about 6000 times.

The movie and whole story line is kind of hard to believe though. I thought it was a good movie but not really worth seeing again I don't think.

Premise

The coffin thing and the war itself is supposed to be a very important part of the movie from what I've read.

Just got done seeing it. It was pretty good. Its long too. Dont go if you want to see an action packed movie though, its on the political side of business. It did a good job of showing both sides with equal time.

veeeerrrrry loosely based on a true story. i'll post the link when the post puts sunday's paper up in the archives. even the guy it's about says they took a lot of liberties. they got the names right, and the fact that one was a drug kingpin and the other a cop, but that's about all that's even remotely close to actual.

You do realize the extent of drug abuse and dependency in the services during Vietnam right? He wasn't the only one doing that. A good number of the guys that came back alive probably ended up buying his heroin back home also.

never happened. it's in the movie, but not factual. they smuggled shit in soldiers' luggage, as well as teak furniture, but not the coffins.

and of course it's getting good reviews. it's got denzel in it. critics suck denzel dick. you could take two hours of denzel washington sleeping and critics would love it.

FRANK LUCAS: By four o'clock, we had enough ******s in the street to make a Tarzan movie.

BWAHAHAHAHA.

Anyhow, they make him out to be a pretty big piece of shit in the movie. There's a scene where he's talking to his brothers about loyalty, respect and all that shit, and he walks out and shoots another dealer in the head in broad daylight. There's no denying that the guy was a cold-blooded killer even despite his charm, fancy talk and fancy clothes.
