Nice... I started off playing bass but then got replaced in a band by a wicked good bass player so I switched to Electric.
The guitar is a Standard with a 60's Neck which I can deal with. I am more of a 50's neck but I couldn't find one anywhere. I'll get one when I come back from Iraq.
I also have an American DLX Telecaster. It's sweet.

My top 3 guitars go:
1. Tele
2. Les Paul
3. SG
I'll probably get an SG soon enough too.

nice guitars. I've got a Gibson Les Paul Studio with the natural finish and a black faded finish SG with 3 pickups.
best-sounding guitar I ever heard was a Les Paul Goldtop.... unbelievable.... still looks like something you'd hammer fuckin nails in with though....

Fuckin' tell me about it! I've been trying to find a vintage Ric in pawn shops for about 6 or 7 years now. There's just no way I'll ever be able to afford one brand new. That's all I want is a goddamn Ric!

Is that a Jazzmaster bass? I had a six string jag I put together from warmoth and fender parts. I had a guitar tech/luthier put it together for me but I couldn't memorize what exactly everything did on it so it had to go. I've gotta dumb alot of shit down for myself. All of the pre's, posts and presence knobs on amps confuse me too. When I found the setting I liked on my present amp (Peavey classic 50 212 made in U.S.A.), I took a paint marker to it so I can find my sound quickly.

Not at the time, I bought a older black one off ebay that shrunk with age. I had to settle for a "mother of toilet seat white" one from another company. I'm sold on neck-through guitars so I doubt I'll ever put another one together. If you plan on building a jaguar, replacing the bridge with one from a mustang is a standard improvement. You just have to wrap the posts with electrical tape to make it fit. I like instrumental surf music, that was the reason for that project.

Then come back to this present time and sell em for the Kelly Blue Book value which is 250k-400k depending on the condition.

The second jack is for the piezo's only.
They only made these for 1 or 2 years so they are very rare! Unlike other brands in this price range, SA models receive the same individual inspection and set-up as Ibanez's most expensive models. It was built in Japan, not Korea or Indonesia, and inspected/set up here in the States. This baby is for players who want S sleekness, but with a standard flat back. The 25.5 neck scale offers narrow feel and tight tension similar to an RG. The built-in piezos add acoustic clarity to its signature mahogany tone and sustain. As you can see it has 2 outputs. You can run a regular guitar cable out of the lower output for traditional tones and add a second cable out of the upper output to a PA system or acoustic amp for convincing acoustic tones. You can even blend the two sounds with the mini toggle switch which sounds very cool! The Piezo system requires a 9v battery.
God Im being such a nerd, Im just super impressed with this geetar. I jsut saw one for sale on egay for 325. I recommend it to anybody at that price. In 04 I paid about 3 times that amount. and had to wait about a month for it.

I'm well chuffed with me amp, 60 watt all valve head and 4x12 cab, pickedit up all well cheap. Traded in a temprimental 100 Watt Laney all valve as well. Can't complain about the amp for the money, does what it needs to. I tend to go for practicality over flash, I haven't the spare cash or talent to be paying £1,000's on gear when stuff for half the price will do the job.

The Les Paul was a bargain, it's only an Epi but it plays nice. I walked into local shop asking for a quote on one, the bloke dissapears into the back room and tells me I might not like what I see but to trust him, he then appears with the les paul in one hand and the head stock in the other.
Once it was glued back together it was as good as new, and cost me all of £150!

Guitars over here are in £'s what they are over there in $'s - List price on 'em is about £569, but you can pick 'em up for around £400.
Besides I prefer my guitars a little broken! Plus the new one's are too white, mine's gone a nice yellowy off white, much better!

Its not about being Rich serious musicians make serious sacrifices to have serious equipment hell its really a working class ideal. If your an electrician you gonna get cheap stanley sidecutters or get a set of Kliens that'll last a lifetime? If you get a Ric bass you won't ever want or need another bass you'll get 20 plus years out of it for a grand, thats a bargain. If you don't have a Ric and thats what you want you'll probably end up getting a new bass about every 2 years at about 500 a pop for something remotely decent in 20 years 5000 bucks on a bass guitar when you coulda just spent a grand and got that ric in the firstplace and been done with it. and a thousand bucks today might be hard to spit out but a thousand bucks today in theory is cheaper than that same thousand bucks 20 years from now.
Rudy
well im only 16 and i still live at home so i dont really have any expenses to pay, no rent, or anything like that.
i can totaly see where your going with this. get somthing good, that your happy with, and thats going to last.
i got my american deleuxe and ashdown the summer between my 8th grade and freshmen year. that pair i could live with for the rest of my life and never want or need a new amp or bass unless i went on a serious tour.
my 78 i got for free so i mean you cant argue with that
my jag bass i bought as an investment more than anything. i could have turned it around immediatly and sold it for twice what i bought it for.
but thats one i predict will be worth some dough when im 50 with a mortgage and an 800 dollar a day crack habbit.
