Any suggestions on a decent coat besides a regular raincoat that would suit the rainy weather in Scotland?

A donkey? Or a flight jacket?

Never owned a donkey jacket before are they fairly rain proof?

I never had any trouble in the rain with it. But if they're new and get soaked they smell like a wet dog, hahaha.

You might want to wait for more feedback, but like I said: mine was fairly rain proof. It was a Lonsdale one without PVC and including the tartan lining.

Yeah parka would keep you warm and dry. Would look more like a mod but still. I'd rather get an m65 or m51 (m51s are a rip off though) fishtail parka than the one Ian posted cos in my opinion they look better and are much warmer.

They make the best waterproofing sportswear seriously...
I mean if you want to be a fashionable skinhead that's one thing... but if you want to be warm and dry. This is it! Personally I would rather be warm and dry.

Crombies work for rainy Denmark... so i guess they'd work in rainy Scotland as well...

I have a columbia rainjacket and a cold weather parka, but scotland isnt as cold as canada so i need something sort in between.

i have a similar black one from this company and recommend it. super light weight, 100% waterproof, and is pretty warm if youre wearing a sweatshirt or layers underneath.

donkey jackets with the pvc are excellent. but they do smell after they get wet.

i got one of those used german flec camo parkas and sprayed it with some water repellent and it really does the trick when i go hunting.

the parka was 20 bucks and the repellent was around 5 bucks.

try:

www.sportsmansguide.com and go to the military surplus link and you'll have tons of great, cheap choices.

have fun in bonny scotland!!
