He coulda been the best in the game but he gave it all up to Join the Corps and become a pilot. I am still unsure what rank he achieved before he got discharged... it was either Capt or Major but whatever. You won't ever see a major athelete in his prime join military service.

*Note: There was that one dude who played football, however his skill and prestige in football is far from what Ted Williams achieved and could have achieved in Baseball.

a shit load of ball players joined the military during ww1, ww2, and korea. thats why thry tried womens leagues. even as a yankees fan i will admit that ted williams had one of the most perfect swings.

Don't get me wrong I love Ted Williams and he had an outstanding military career, but tons of athletes and celebrities answered the call and served.
