The day I signed my lease in Tallahassee, I got a summons for Federal jury duty at the courthouse in Tampa, I was like well isn't this just wonderful. I wrote them a letter and they let me out of it, try it.

I did mine about 10 years ago and it was boring as hell. Got sent home three times, called and rejected once. Called and the trial fell through and finally got couple days in court. Take a book.
Incidentally, me mum's just had her first call at 65!!

I cant tell you how many times Ive gotten called up in every state Ive ever lived in! I get called up just about every year.......whats weird is my Mom does too!
Id LOVE to do Duty if I got a big high profile case and got sequestered but seeing as thats not gonna happen Ive perfected ways of getting out of it although as of late I just ignored the notices......

I got picked once. Bring a book. If you can't get out of it, go and when the lawyers start asking you questions, tell them what you think they don't wanna hear. They'll excuse you. I told the lawyers in mine that I was biased against cops.. hehehe (the defendant was a police officer).

I never have been picked for jury duty(knock on wood). My father is 56 and he's never been called. My mom on the other hand went through a period of being called almost every year for 10 years and it was always right around or on her birthday! The only time she got out of it was when she had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and had to be hospitalized.

I wouldn't mind it if they paid more than $17 a day for it. That's a fine wage if you're unemployed but if you have a job it's not worth it.

This is why I haven't registered to vote yet. Once I do it will only be a matter of time before the government gives my info to their superiors at America Online and me and everyone on my buddy list gets tagged with a tracking device.

You should have had him hung. ;)
If you are not onto doing jury duty, the best way to avoid it is don't reply, just ignore the first notice. If you have to, later you can say you never received it. This is if you don't want to do your civic duty as a citizen of the U.S.
If you do reply to the notice and then take the pain in the ass route of trying to come up with an excuse in front of the judge, 95% of excuses get tossed out by the judge.
I was on a jury in about '95, it was okay I guess. They way I looked at it I would rather have people like me judging me than a bunch of welfare Mom's who don't have anything better to do, so I kind of thought it was my duty.
It was a cool case, kidnapping at gunpoint, armed robbery, etc. I got to stand up and say guilty a bunch of times since nobody else taped on a set of nuts and wanted to be the foreman.

well i went and got dismissed from the first case ,but i have to go back Thursday for another case. I didnt make the first case because it was about a cocain bust in my area and i dont want that shit near me. They had a shoot out at the damn car wash me and my daughter used to go to ,to wash my truck. SO i told them there was no way they wanted me on that jury ,that was too close to home and we dont want that crap around here.
So they dismissed me and a few others. There are other trials so back into the pool i go . BLAH!
