In 48 hours, I will be an official new immigrant to the U.S.

My visa arrived today and I fly into LAX on Friday night. I am feeling so overwhelmed by the reality of it all.

In addition to the flood of "Welcome to America' comments I expect
What advice do you all have for a newcomer to help me assimilate into the US?

Camo t-shirts, a pennzoil hat and a love for large mouth bass and tacos should take you far.

Greet everyone that makes eye contact with you with a "...THE FUCK YOU LOOKIN AT NIGGA?!?!?!?" and punch them out. It's a well known American custom.

Congrats, Marti!

You already like guns and beer, and also already despise commies, illegals and emo folks. You ought to fit in just fine. You guys really should move to Texas though, if not the deep south.

Plenty of guns and beer, commies are an endangered species (at least outside of Austin), whooping an emo is a pasttime rather than an assault charge, and you can get japapenos on everything.

There are more illegals than you might like - but that is trumped by the presence of Waffle House.

Isn't that what the guns are for? I hear illegals make great target practice.

Sadly, I can't vote for at least three years since I am not eligible to become a naturalized citizen until then.

We got Waffle House in Missouri too, without the damned 110 degree summer heat.

We have at least three here in Fayetteville, funny thing, two of them are right across the street from one another, too many drunk Joe's and not enough space at the first one I guess.

They are right next to the major night time social spot here, the 24 hour wal-mart.
