pffft, blackberry..all the way...i was sitting at the dealership watching the news and they showed the new bold...le sigh...i want...i want bad

Bah. Can't stand the fucking things, the interface drives me nuts. I will say, they are nice and easy to deal with from a corporate IT standpoint.

I have 2 that just sit here, if you know anyone who wants one.

Heh. To go with the 3 I have lying around.

T-Mobile Dash (aka HTC Excalibur) FTW!

Love it. I was hesitant about Windows Mobile at first, but got past that quick. It's an awesome little device.

putting your disdain aside for a min. on crackberries, would you opt for a dash over the pearl?

I have blackberries here - i have an 8820 and lisa has the pearl - we love them - mine is for corporate and it couldn't be any better for that alone - her's is just for herself and she loves it too.

I don't like touch screens - I've seen the aftermath of them and how badly they get scratched up over time - most people I work end up breaking their Treo's and such fairly quick - I have this one friend that LIVES on her treo - she can't think of anything better - but she's replaced it 4 times!!! WTF We've had our BB's for a long time without any problems - there are some great programs and for managing email and my appointments - it can't be beat. The synch is seamless - I rarely have to plug it into a computer for anything...i added a 2gb microSD card full of music (should have gotten the 4gb!)

My model does not have a camera - which sucks, but it is a requirement for my job so I just have to deal with it. For government contracts and other special interest customers, we can't bring camera's into their Datacenters and such - makes sense, so with this I can still be in touch from the DC when everyone else had to leave their phones at the door. hehe

btw, stay tuned to the BB forums...there's some new release's buzzing around...something big is in the works.

oh..this is only the start btw - http://www.electronista.com/articles/08/05/12/blackberry.bold/

The rumor is bigger than just the 9000 with 3g (beat iphone to it) - 2mp camera same hi-res graphics as iphone etc etc...guess we'll just have to wait to see....but this one is pretty sweet...

I can stream video's and music on mine now - it's wi-fi is as fast as my home pc and works fairly well - but works better on Opera browswers - the 9000 comes with javascript and CSS abilities from the start - that's always helpful

i have the pearl and i absolutely love it! i've had BBs for years because of my job and i can honestly say that if i didn't have one, along with a car charger, my company would have folded during hurricane wilma (and with no help from fema buying up all the trucks, but that's a different post for a different thread!)

i want the new bold like no man's business, but i've never had a touch screen before and i want one, well...because it looks cool...i think i'll stick with what i have for now...

In a NY second. I've had to use Blackberries for work situations before, so my dislike of them is based on usage.

You're dead on about the touchscreens, it's one of the things that led me away from the Palm. Even with screen protectors they get pretty jacked up over time.

The corporate backend for BBs is nice, that much I'll admit. Makes the job for us admins reaaaaal simple.

hehe - we get them free from blackberry since we use so many of them - but now i'm working with a customer that is doing a pilot with iPhones - still won't synch to outlook exchange, but pretty fancy none-the-less - We're running a beta exchange synch and are told it will go public in June so maybe it will pick up some business

I take pretty much what anyone will give me - I haven't sold out to BB yet! haha

I used to have a Smartphone. It had Windows Mobile on it. Loved it. I was able to play a DooM demo on it and all. Fucking awesome. Not to mention the Gameboy emulator I had on it.

I now have a SE W810i. Nice phone with a good camera, but I do miss all the nerdy stuff I used to have on the smartphone: changing the boot screen, putting illegal software on it, etc. Fun as hell!

I'm not sure what I should get next. Especially not when my plans on moving to Germany go though.

On the touchscreen subject: aren't there protective screens for them?

We were able to get all sorts of smartphones to sync with Exchange through the BlackBerry server, I was kinda impressed honestly. Funny thing is, our CEO and CTO just *had* to have iPhones when they came out. So one of the IT guys was on line the morning of the release to get them...brought 'em back and discovered they wouldn't work with the setup. Suddenly the CEO and CTO didn't want them so much...

This was my prior gig, back in NYC. My current company doesn't have a blackberry setup or requirement, so I'm happy.

I love my pearl it works great for my needs. The only other phone that is accessible to the MLS data system for Realtors in OK is the Treo and I dont like having to stop and touch and look. Too much shit to do and dont have time. I will say the only thing about the pearl is the ring tones are not loud enough for me

I have an iPhone. I have a BlackBerry Curve. I have 2 HTC 8525 - and 2 Palms (not phone palms). I chose the iPhone only because of the integrated WiFi and Safari browser. It has a lot of things that the BlackBerry lacked... as the BlackBerry is generally business oriented.

Bad thing about the iPhone - can't receive or send MMS. Can't record video. Ringtones are not loud WHATSOEVER. But, I like it cause I don't have to lug around my Palm for GPS/maps/other nerdy things I used it for, my iPod for music and video and the BlackBerry for the phone.

the ability to zoom in on items and scroll around the screen at high speed rather than slow rocks - Although - it does error out every so often and that's annoying, but you can click menu and click reload and it loads right up....nice.

The voyager is already 3G, I want one so bad.

I'm not connecting to a real email server right now, and don't need sink so I have a virgin mobile wild card, which is great for email, text and calls, but doesn't have a lot of the more advanced PIM functionality I miss from my Treos.

I had a treo 600 and a treo 650 when I was cooperate, and I loved them. I hate not having a touch screen, makes moving around so much more of a chore.

They are getting better with time, and if you actually use your stylus it's not so bad. Plus, these are machines just like your computer, why should you expect to get more than a year or 18 months out of it? Would you expect to do the same from your business desktop? In most cases it's your ob covering the cost, not coming out of your pocket.

Might I ask where you work? A cousin of mine works in the US for Sisco Systems and the father of a friend at CSC in the Netherlands.

I have an upstage, which is usually fine for surfing but has a hard time with pic heavy sites that aren't specifically made for WAP. I was thinking about a Centro, since I am stuck with Sprint. Or maybe a Rumor.

Has anyone used a Moto Q? the price is right and I like the size.

i'm personally biased about smartphones other then BBs...i hate the Q, i think it's slow as shit compared to a BB (my boss and brother have them for work) an i HATE not having a QWERTY keyboard...

i might have to switch to verizon and i keep seeing the new Glide, it looks cool, i wonder how it works...

I solved my choice issue. One of the new roller girls is selling me her black Palm Centro in July when Palm puts out their newest w/ Sprint. Score!

I've had my Moto Q9c for a little over a month now and it really kicks butt.
I've had no problems with it whatsoever although I have detected a teeny tiny bit of lag whenever accessing certain apps. There are some good customizations out there and a huge community of users trading customizations.

I did have to sell my soul to Sprint thou for another 2 years and hand them 60 bucks to get it. Pretty much a steal when the phone alone is 4 bills. I watch news on it, and (according to the manual) the mini SD slot supports up to 32gigs..

The Centro's buttons seem so close together and touch screen is just another thing that can go wrong with a phone.
