Yep...they came - they conquered! Over 7 million downloads yesterday before the servers took a shit from all the requests - new record.
So I got it - and so far I like it. A few added security features - tabs seem to be working much better and with less memory required...
I'm a bit sad a few of my add-on's haven't been updated yet - but I knew that was going to happen, and I'm sure they'll be ported to it soon enough so I can wait.
I've not hit a site that didn't work well with v3 yet...anyone else take the plunge?

I have the last beta on this machine, used it and liked it a whole lot. Haven't moved to permanent use yet, I'm too dependent on my plugins to jump until they're updated!

Ya, I'm really having a hard time without my "all in one gestures" add-on not working. I'm VERY use to right click, drag backwards to go back a page etc etc.
PapaSkin
06-18-2008, 06:14 PM
Oh hell ya - I just went and searched for add-ons and found most of what I use is under a different name - all-in-one Gestures is now called FireGestures 1.1.2 - a little different but works identicle to what I was using!
Now to find the others...

My theme wasn't compatible, but other than that no worries.

the Save and Quit option is awesome....allows you to close your browser with multiple tabs - then when you come back and open it - it goes back to where each website/tab was! Nice!

you can use all in one gestures 0.18.0 too, just gotta do a little workaround.

How the hell do I get rid of the task bar map under bookmarks? Not the taskbar itself, but the bookmark folder itself when I want to browse my fabvourites. I'm using a Dutch version, so I have no idea what's it called in English.
PapaSkin
06-19-2008, 12:44 PM
you may need to screen shot that - I have no fucking clue what you're talking about. haha

The thing that's called 'Bladwijzerwerkbalk', just above 'Forum':

Ah - I'm guessing here - but isn't that where you put bookmarks that go on your tool bar? The most visited websites you use - so you don't have to click on forum, then skinheads.net ..it would just create the direct link to the ones you use most often on the tool bar - not sure you can remove that though - it's considered a feature.
as in View -> toolbars-> bookmark tool bar
PapaSkin

btw: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Toolbar_customization_-_Firefox
and it states: Warning: it is not recommended to remove "Bookmark Toolbar Items" from the toolbars. If you don't need it just hide the Bookmarks Toolbar.

Ok, you could hide it - add this to your userChrome.css file:
/* Hide the "Bookmarks Toolbar Folder" folder inside bookmarks menu */
menu[label="Bookmarks Toolbar Folder"] { display: none !important; }
found this too: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Deleting_the_Bookmarks_Toolbar_Folder

Nice. This worked. It now shows a double seperator, but I prefer that above the damn folder thing.

huh - i've not had that problem with mine - course I always have a TON of tabs open and FF or IE has always had trouble keeping up - FF3 does better under heavy load than either of those have for me.

Same here. FF3 is way snappier. I have officially moved, all my necessary extensions are updated and I found a theme that I dig.

well it uses a lot more memory for special effects and the new address bar etc...and i noticed it was saying "looking up skinheads.net" for a lot longer than FF2 before it took me to the actual page
but my computer is pretty old, i only have 512 ram....maybe its cause my computer is a piece of shit and i need a new one badly....

I do see mine taking a lot of memory per say - but since I have over 1 gig of ram I don't consider 100m of memory to much - considering I'm doing real time active monitoring with a full out Java console and have gmail open with chat and 7 other tabs....i can flip between them fine - change sites, refresh, minimize, maximize and no delays...

Guess it would all depend on the type of machine that your running. Myself I have no problems either.

I have a P4 3gig with 4 gigs of ram and 512 meg video card.
This screams, even with a ton of tabs open. Even things like fonts and images look better on my HD TV.

Can't seem to find the old version. It uninstalled it when I d/l the new version. Now I know I'm a computer dummy, but I'm not that dumb.
edit:Never mind, I found it and switched back. Kinda like old Coke versus new coke.

I only have one really wierd complaint. When I'm scrolling, if the page I am on has a Youtube or such video embedded on it, it stops my scrolling if my cursor is anywhere near it. It's minor, but kind of annoying.
Oh and I hate the button size. And the house is ugly compared to the last one.

It's still alpha, no surprise that themes and/or extensions aren't compatible yet. I don't bother being bleeding edge, I'll let the rest of y'all find the bugs for me.

Just downloaded this add on. It's the ultimate in laziness. It works like the game Black and White.Basically it let's you draw on your screen to command your comp.
