Derek Matthew Biggs
3/18/85-6/27/04

Derek was the first person to bring me into the music scene in my town and the first person to bring me into the skin culture. In the day, it was him, myself, and one other (Jon) and man did we have good times. When I think about those days, it almost seems like i'm watching a movie of someone else's life.

When Derek and I were driving down the road one time, this car was revving up next to us and acting like they wanted to race. They kept pumping up and acting tough or whatever. Derek smirked at them and then threw his entire 44 oz soda on their windshield and we pulled off. Oh man, we laughed so hard. But that was just Derek.

If you saw in one of the other threads when I was talking about the guy getting a cell phone thrown at him, this is the guy I was talking about.

Derek was a good dude. He died 4 years ago and never got to see his daughter get born; she will turn 4 in November.

Derek was more like a brother than a friend. He will be eternally missed. He was a good friend. A good son. A good skin. And I know he would have been a good father.

I miss you, Derek.

My condolences, sorry for the loss of a friend. It's so sad to know his daughter never got to know him. I'm sure through her mom & friends like you she'll know exactly how wonderful her dad was.

Agreed. It was really nice. I like this section. Too bad it hasn't always been here.

Sorry that he's gone, but he'd be glad to know that he's not forgotten.

Rough to go at such a young age... makes me thankful that I made it this long.

Sounds like he had fun with what he had.

thanks everyone. seriously. it somehow makes it easier to at least share part of him here, as stupid and corny as that sounds. and i think he would like to know he was memorialized here, too. anyway, thanks again.

Respecting, remebering the dead, is never stupid or corny brother...Especially if he was worth remembering, as the way you describe him, no doubt he was.

RIP,
My condolences to you and his family.

RIP.

I think I met him a number of years ago - did he have a sister and play in a band at some point? Was it a car accident?

If not, then sorry, wrong fella.

But still, RIP.

sounds like him. he has a couple of sisters; one older and 2 younger. one of the younger was pretty close to his age.

and he was a drummer in several bands (GWPI and Skeffingtons Gyve - I am sure i mispelled that).

And it was a car accident. He was on the way back from a concert (the aquabats i think). single car. the driver was goofing off from what i heard and lost control.

he was a good guy. one of the best i ever met.

Only two months late, but... Jim, right person. RIP.

And if you happen to know, send me a PM and let me know what's up with Jenn D (and Fred, if he's still around)... lost touch long ago, and I wonder what she's up to now. Canada? Grad school? Something else?
