This morning, my yearly subscription of Trend Micro Anti Virus software became void. I'm considering paying for another year of it, but figured I'd come on here and see if there was a good FREE anti-virus software available and also a good anti-spyware program.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Avast! has worked great for me
Avoid 8.x free version of AVG - I've seen to many systems infected with this product.

AVG 7.5 had issues AVG 8.0 hasnt had any that I know of. I bought the pro version though. But I have run the 8.0 at work on some of the work computers with out issue.

i was using AVG 8.0 free and got a trojan it never detected, in fact, ad aware was the program that detected it (and ad aware isnt even an anti-virus)
just get nod32, even if you get it from pirate bay you should stop using that free stuff...
i also read somewhere in anti-virus reviews that AVG only catches something like 75% of all viruses that were tested

Yeah I'm reading on both programs right now and the nod32 sounds the best so far. But I can't pay for it right now, so I'll use the AVG until then.

avg free 8.x is inferior .. trust me - haha, unless you get the paid version you're missing out - and if I were going to pay for software like that, I'd get Webroot's spysweeper and antivirus - cheap and easy to use. Avast still free though - but what do I know - I only work in IT Security. *shrug*

www.piratebay.org
search it, order by seeders, get the most popular one
ALWAYS read the comments before you download anything off that site, check to see if anyone says it contains a virus
i usually only grab shit from there if at least 3 people say something like "scanned no viruses good torrent"

Right. Because, y'know, downloading pirated anti-virus software in the hopes that it doesn't contain a virus makes all KINDS of sense.

uhhhh...thats why you scan the shit before you execute it
people scan the shit out of torrents, then if even 1 person finds a virus, they write "VIRUS" in the comments....when i read "OMG DONT DOWNLOAD ITS A VIRUS" i tend to stay away from it
not only that, but ever since i got a trojan a while ago i have been using using my anti virus as well as several online virus scanners to scan my shit

you must work for Micro center cause evertime I walk into the place they are trying to sell nod32.
I use AVG 8.0 (paid version), along with Spybot Search and Destroy, spyware blaster and Spyware Doctor. I have tried almost everything when it comes to Anti-Virus/Spyware programs and I have found that NOT one single product does it all. Using these products and using Opera web browser keeps me spyware and virus free.

You're missing my point, jackass. If you can't figure it out, nothing I can do about it. And if you're willing to trust your anti-virus security to the pirate community, more power to you.
