I'm having problems with a video card. It's new, an ATI X1050/256 mb, DDR TV-out DVI 128 bit. I bought that to replace the in-board video card as it's having problems with graphics.

My computer has a AMD Sempron 3000+, 2.0 ghz and 960 MB ram (supposed to be a 1 gig chip, IIRC). My OS is Windows XP Professional with SP2.

The problem is when I can get it running, the video card works great with the graphics I use for work, but will crash the system if I play a video game. Particularly MOH-AA.

The driver WAS current (until I uninstalled the video card).
Any and all advice is welcome!

If your vid card is current, look for patches to your game that's crashing - could be more game related than the card itself. New games are getting more and more integrated into video hardware and it's going to get tougher and tougher to play new games on old systems - and they are constantly coming out with game updates b/c of it.

Yeah, I did that. Last night I reinstalled the card and experimented with it. There is an upgraded driver, but didn't help. After a few moments of use the screen goes black and I get a "No signal" message regarding the monitor. At that time I was starting the mapping software.

Shot in the dark here, but what's your power supply and what's the demand on the power supply by the video card?

You might also be overheating, how many fans do you have and any idea how hot it's getting inside the box?

If it's only having problems with games, it could be either of those two...maybe.

very true - my daughters pc was under powered and a new PSU fixed that right up and another one I had a fan on the video card go out - it's upside down so I couldn't see it had stopped spinning - it would overheat and die...both good suggestions.
