yeah, so i opened up the TCP port designated by the new soulseek client in my router, says it's connected, yet when i test the firewall and router settings on soulseek it says it isn't configured correctly, anyone have any ideas as to why?

SLSK NS13

Did you open the correct port? SoulSeek tends to choose a different port evry time you install it. At least, that's what happened to me.

Did you make sure the port is open and accessible by your computer/IP address?

Also, did you adjust the settings in your software firewall? You might have to permit SLSK internet access in your Windows or other firewall.

Also, this site is great: http://www.portforward.com/

Some ISPs filter and block p2p client ports. IF this is the case there isnt shit you can do.

The ones that dont want you people sharing all their music, appz and games with everyone. Companys do it, schools do it, and so do ISPs.

my ISP blocks me from setting up servers too - no port 80, 443 or email on port 25 unless it goes thru them...(ie, i can't run my own email server OR send email thru any other smtp server but theirs)

Even with business class service you have to ask to get some ports opened. Email is a big one.

I understand companies, schools, etc. blocking certain traffic, but an ISP? I never heard of that and it doesn't sound good to me. At all.

Heh, this thread does make me even happier with my provider! Haha, in stead of blocking stuff, they even provide free newsserver access. And I'm talking full access with pretty good speed and 100% reliability.
They even provide Quake and Half-Life servers.

try opening a range of ports. if it calls for port 1234. Open ports 1100 - 1300 and see what happens. Also you might need to reboot your router. I know we had a router at work that wouldnt change settings unless you cycled the power to it. THen it worked fine. We later updated the firmware and fixxed the issue.

Appreciate the help, but, I figured out what was wrong, apparently the lighting the other day screwed some shit up and the router reset, so the static IP i gave the computer reset to default so i had ports open on 168.2.6 and the computer was back to 168.2.2
