when i got my chest done everytime i heard the gun start going i tensed up. it hurt that much and tensing up made it worse. the whole shop was watching, laughing, and asking me how it felt. bastards.

The chest hurt like hell...up near the top of the sternum was hellish, and just below my sternum/top of the stomach was awful. Worth it in the end, but I was not happy while in the chair.

You got through all that in one sitting, you're a better man than me.
I think you hit damn near every nasty area above the ribs.

the whole thing looks a bit uneven in that photo. the birds, the laurel, the stars, the lot. that doesn't detract from the design at all however. actually complements the whole old school feel (at least before the colour hit). very nice.

Very nice shading. I don't see why you should, or how you would incorporate color into that because the shading is pretty extensive. Anyway, good piece.

Don't be scared, it's worth it in the end. If you want it, you can handle it. Plus, at least in my opinion, chest tattoos on girls = thumbs up.

Yeah..I know it'll be worth it, but it will be my first tattoo and all these guys are crying about it hurting, and it makes it seem a little scarier. I got a little more meat in my chestal region so maybe it won't be as bad.
I'm just trying to make myself feel better here.

I guess ill be the only one to tell the truth. The line work is shotty as hell and the shadding will be super light after it heals. It will need to be gone over again. To much water in the black.
It looks cool and im sure you are happy with it but it could have been done by better hands.

The shading looks like what I had on my backpiece legs, aka noy going to show from 10meters away...
And yeah, I like the idea, but could have been done by better hands... Either that or you were jerking too much at the pain and it got a bit fucked up(and I can TOTALLY undestand that).
I want a chestpiece for my birthday, but I already know it's going to be painfull like hell... I think I'll do that when I turn 23 and a bit more accustomed to getting inked in painfull spots aka getting about 5 more in the meantime;-P

See the artist is probably using that light shading to put depth into the color instead of using concentrated colors which will in turn make everything look kinda "dirty" or murky and not very clear later on down the road. Alot of tattoo artists do this and it looks good but not as good as what it could be.

exactly. if it were too dark, it wouldn't blend w/ the upcoming color.

just an update on how it healed... color will be added SOON. red, white, blue, green, brown, and yellow.

again, those roses on the O's are coverups, so they look shitty as hell until i get them filled in w/ color.

Kind of have to agree. Hopefully the color might do something for it but I doubt it. I'd be pissed if it were me.

I don't mean to be jumping on the band wagon here, but I think your tattooer should have put a lot more time into getting everything symetrical, especially the laurel and the swallows (are they meant to be representative of B-52 bombers or similar, btw?). Personally, I really don't like the cut-throats; they look like a child's drawing. (But at least you've got the balls to go for some decent-sized work and I respect that). On the other hand; none of that means shit if you're happy with it. Because in the end, that's what counts.

haha it is an old school piece... but anyways, im getting it colored in this morning, so later on tonight ill post up pics... i'm pretty excited, but i have a busy day afterwards so i dont know how that will work out. At least poker night is tonight in duke city!
I would think about thickening up the outlines - it will sort out some of the shaky line work......like on the cut-throats. I mean.....we all prefer fat lines right?
