By the way, Rex is a shitty QB. I bet if he does this kinda of crap next week they put in Orton or whoever the fuck their backup is.

Good to see you still have hopes and dreams, but shouldnt they be for a realistic cause other then San Fagcisco being anywhere other then a gay bathhouse on SuperBowl Sunday.

What the hell are you talking about? Back then players played offense and defense, and played because of the game not the paycheck.

Comparing the skill of a player in the 20's/30s to todays players would be a joke.

Its a whole different game now then it was then. Different rules, scoring, ball, everything pretty much.

Exactly, the most people made in that era was around 10,000 bucks, when the season ended they had to get real jobs, players back then fought in or had fought in the World Wars. There weren't any rules against tackling by the head, hitting the quaterback etc. I guess if Dawg wants to call The Catch and multimillion dollar bullshit players real football that's his business.

There are a few players back then who should be sack leaders, but arent because it wasnt a stat.

Right, back then you had a bunch of out of shape non-athlete types playing a game of back yard football.

Now you have guys train 12 months out of the year, condition non stop and guys that are running 4.4 40's. Their career is being an athlete.

But your right since you can't hit the kicker or quarterback then that means everyone now is just an overpaid entertainer.

but yea your right, they are pussies for wearing helmets and face masks. Saftey is such a pussy thing.

And a much less skilled game.Sure. Im sure the players back then would have a hard time playing today, and the players today would have a hard time playing back then.

Football here started as just Americanized Rugby until Walter Camp came along and made most of the standard rules that define the game. But once the forward pass came along it totally changed it. People still got hit like today, just minus the pads. I cant imagine catching a pass and some dude smacking you with no pads.

So you're telling me that every modern day RB is a better running back than Jim Brown...just because it's the modern era?

"
Walter Camp, the coach at Yale and a dissenter from the IFA over his desire for an eleven man team, helped begin the final step in the evolution from rugby-style play to the modern game of American football. The IFA’s rules committee, led by Camp, soon cut the number of players from fifteen to eleven, and also instituted the size of the playing field, at one hundred ten yards. In eighteen eighty-two Camp also introduced the system of downs. After first allowing three attempts to advance the ball five yards, in nineteen six it was changed to ten yards. The fourth down was added in nineteen twelve. Tackling below the waist had been legalized in eighteen eighty-eight.

Within a decade, concern over the increasing brutality of the game led to its ban by some colleges. Nearly one hundred eighty players had suffered serious injuries, and eighteen deaths had been reported from the brutal mass plays that had become common in practice. In nineteen hundred five, President Theodore Roosevelt called upon Harvard, Princeton, and Yale to help save the sport from demise."

what are you telling me other then that the same shit would be happening now if it wasn't for pads and a helmet?
