Reminds me of when we first moved to Birmingham and some of us went down to a show at a bar (that we quickly learned we're not welcome in). Some bitch came up to me and some of the guys and asked if we were skins. We replied to the affirmative. She then asked why we hated so much. Quickly seeing where this conversation was going and taking into account she's a female and politely asked a question i tried my best to diplomatically explain to her that her PREJUDICE was wrong. She continued to badger and accuse and then i found she's a journalist. I (not so politely) explained that it was people like her in her profession that were responsible for HER OWN ignorance. She then tried to tell us we needed a new title for what we were because since we weren't racists or nazis we shouldn't be calling ourselves skinheads. Shortly after making that comment my wife and another (non-skinhead) female friend explained to her how close she was to getting a beating and that it was inevitable should she choose to continue her current conversation. At which point she did the smart thing and walked away.

Yeah, one of my brothers whom recently got hired by a Sheriff's dept. was pulled into the office and questioned by his superior about skinheads and the tattoo on the side of his head (crew tattoo). He explained away the crew tattoo by giving some story of meaning and replied to the skinhead question with, my personal favorite to use, "I ain't a Nazi, if that's what you're askin'."
