Anyone else having trouble paying the bills lately? Went to jump in the shower earlier today only to find out that we have no hot water in our place ugh...Just last month was had our electricity shut off for a bit because of overdue payments. Overall this seems to be a recurring theme in my house. You guys have any similar troubles?

All the time here. I now have a super power sense when the power company is coming, I can almost get it down to the hour.
On the other hand.....how is just your hot water shut off? Do you mean that you didnt pay your gas bill? Cause last time I checked the water companies dont pre-heat your water for you.

Yeah I usually just stay over my girls dorm room, but yeah every so often she'll come over here. No biggie though, pretty much anything goes here. Parents aren't real uptight assholes. I'm only here till I have enough to throw down the security on a apartment.

I remember waking up at 1 in the morn to find the top of the cold water faucet had shot off, causing a gyser of cold water in my bathroom and flooding the apartment. I had to stand with my thumb in the hole for 3 hours until the landlord showed up to fix it. had to work at 5:30 that morn.

haha the people that owned this house before us skimped on all home improvement projects. they used cheap plastic water lines on the bathroom sink (the kind that are meant for the toilet.) and eventually they popped off which happened to be 12:30-1 am. they're waving around shooting water out soaking the entire sink area and vanity. every drawer was full of water. the noise woke my wife up she flipped out oh my god whats that noise i jump up go look in the bathroom i was so pissed try to get under there and turn the water off. then i started laughing afterwards and couldn't go back to sleep. it looked like a scene out of a movie.

it's always funny in retrospect. mine happened in '98, so I get a good laugh out of it now. but standing with your thumb in a faucet for 3 hours sucks.

Shit, when I was a little kid we didn't have hot running water.
We had a wood stove and a kettle... and a creek.
When I was around five years old, I think, that winter the creek froze solid. :D
Two months of thawing snow on a wood stove, and my parents finally decided they'd had enough of being hippies.
My father shaved his beard and cut his hair that spring.
I still have a photo of him with a beard to his belly and hair down to his ass - I keep threatening to send it to his chapter of the Conservative Party.

Note to self: Show wife where main water main is.
Second note to self: Show wife how to use the proper wrench to turn the water off.
Third note to self: Stock bandages ahead of time for when she clocks me with said wrench for being condescending.

PPssstt.........I'll give the secret to having hot water ALWAYS........
You know those pieces of paper the Utility company sends?
Open them up......now there will be a request for money inside *BUT* provided you dont waste energy and stay on stop of these 'requests" your bill shouldnt be too bad....Still folowing me?
Ok....SEND THEM THE MONEY and,no shit, like fucking David Copperfield is hiding in the pipes you will MAGICALLY always have hot water!!!!!
Crazy shit I know but its true!!:D
Seriously.......When I lived in scenic West Philly we lived with no heat and no water (and sometimes no lights) so I hear you and does suck but it aint hard to handle your business(If I can learn ANYBODY can!!)

The building I grew up in used to have the boilers break down on a fairly regular basis, of course almost always in the winter. Which meant no hot water and no heat (steam heat building) for however long it took to get that shit fixed. You learn to deal with either a) cold showers or b) heating water in a pot on the stove and "showering" with that.
The building had wood-burning fireplaces tho, so we didn't freeze to death.

i had my water shut off this month... all damn day... apparently i hadn't paid it since Apil... i guess they get testy about that... it's not like i didn't have the money... paid it over the phone when we called to find out what happened... so it's off all day... i get home from work... the wife calls to bitch at them that they haven't gotten it back on... they tell her somebody is working till 11:30 at night and it will get turned on between now and then... so she tells them she's sending her husband outside to cut the lock off the meter and the guy tells her go ahead... she hangs up... i head out with the bolt cutters... i get to the box and up comes the flashing yellow lights of the water district... i put the cutters behind my back... said "nothing" and backed up slowly...

I've been doing that since I was 15, no matter how much I give 'em doesn't seem to help much. They're always asking for more.

Haha! Yeah they have problems with money management (i.e. Mom) evidently it seem's to be a whole priority issue, doesn't see to help much with the credit debt problems either. (Thanks, again Mom!)

-Update: Looks like it's going to be another week without the hot water...feels like swimming in a pool without the heat during the fall season. Doesn't that kind of shit make you live longer...isn't that why those freaks jump into the arctic waters in the middle of winter..? Or are they just big fans of shrinkage!
