We're all big food lovers here so here is somewhere to talk about it.
Tonight is Cream of broccoli soup with rice.
That is if I can get my ass out of this chair and get to the store. Hahaha.

I actually ate FOOD tonight. I had a salad and some potato salad at my Dad's little BBQ, too bad I don't eat meat, it looked very very good. Plus I got to see my niece who absolutely adores me and wouldn't leave me alone the whole time. She's so cute.
Half a spit roasted chicken with a pepper, salt and spices rub, it literally just fell off the bone it was so tender, fresh sourdough baguette, some smoked, sharp cheddar, sliced hot house tomatoes and some chipotle mayo to put the finishing touch on. All washed down with two tall glasses of iced tea with lemon.
I look like Jabba the Fuckin Hut after eating all that, gonna waddle out to the bar and see what the boys are up to, shit doesn't start poppin off until at least 11:30pm anyways...

Just put a cheater lasagna in the oven.
That's when you grab a couple cans of meat sauce, do up a box of KD, stir it all together, throw it in a pan and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes at 200 (centigrade), then 5 minutes at 300 to get a nice crunchy crust on the cheese.
Quick, dirty, and reasonably tasty.

Kraft Dinner, aka Macaroni and Cheese.
But the fake lasagna will be tomorrow's dinner, for when I went to the market to pick up some ham for brekkie I noticed two perfect little filet mignon cuts, perfectly lean and on sale as "gotta cook it today" stock - the colour was just starting to change to that deep plum colour that a good steak gets when the aging is just about right.
12 ounces of mignon for about five bucks US.
Oh yeah, it's steak tonight, with a lemon/pepper rub and a side of scotch infused mushrooms.
Some days the universe just hands you something nice.
All right.

When making shredded beef for burritos here is my recipe
Take roast or flat steak (get it from the carniceria it will say shredding beef) and sear it on all sides in olive oil
Add mirepoix (onion, carrots and celery), garlic, large can of las palmas chili sauce (you can use enchilada sauce), one can of water and a couple jalapenos.
Cook covered for hours and hours until it falls apart.
Shred and put in burritos, tacos, tamales or enchiladas

Is it wrong I get excited about the holidays because of the shit she puts out for them? She honestly has some good fucking ideas sometimes. Although some of her shit to bake...insane. Yeah I have time to hunt down a kosher russian spice salesman who sells rare extract of a chinese flower that blooms once every 100yrs just so my butter cookies don't crumble.
She's kinda become unrealistic. Her older shit was better, hence I'll get those cookbooks and not the new ones.

My one question about Martha Stewart is how in the fuck does she have like every damn custom made kitchen utensil/garden tool known to man? She says shit like, " When oiling up the cookie sheet, you can use my special Fijian hardwood 45 degree angled olive oil brush that I had custom made at a delightful little woodshop at the open air market in Italy last summer..." Who in the hell can go down to the corner Ace Hardware and find that shit? Wtf? *coughs* Not that I've ever watched Martha Stewart.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with making your home look as nice as you can. Even when we were just starting out and money was tight we got creative. Pack's mom bought us a HUGE cactus, so we got some chilli pepper lights, a star and that was our first christmas tree since we couldn't afford a real one. Each year I try to make Christmas nicer then the last. I hope the boys grow up and realize that through good times and bad times Mom and dad always did the best they could and made it as great as possible. That's all I really want for all the effort I put into the holidays!

hahahahaha, nah man, ain't nothin to it...all ya gotta do is take whatever oil ya wanna infuse, crush a few cloves of garlic, put a nice slit in the chilis and drop em in...you can use it after about a day, but obviously the longer it sits the better it's gonna be.

I kinda just made whatever came to mind. I quartered up some potatoes, boiled them until tender. Then I melted some butter and olive oil in a skillet. Put some scallions, garlic, cajun seasoning, salt and pepper in along with the potatoes and simmered them for a good 10 minutes or so. While that was simmering I cooked up some chopped sirloin and added it to the potato mix. It turned out pretty good.

The old lady made me some Gnocchi with creamy pesto sauce, and then a little sammich on the side... sooo good.
Gnocchi, for those who don't know, is this potato-and-bread-dough pasta that can be served with regular marinara, or pesto, or alfredo, or whatever... It's a staple pasta in Argentina and Italy, and she's from Argentina... Gnocchi is different from every other kind of pasta that I've ever had, but it's really good. Especially with pesto.

It's take out night from a Thai restaraunt. I'll be having spicy Massaman curry with soft potatos, chicken, peanuts, and pineapple over white rice. My little ones and Pack get the Sen Mee, it's vermacelli noodles with a curry sauce, cabbage, carrots, mushrooms and fried egg.
I'm making pumpkin cookies, soft moist cookies with a hint of cinnamon sprinked with powdered sugar!

As silly as this sounds I was thinking about that the other day. With Dawg, me, Oldcrow, couple other people. Doing "Working class meals" or something, the cover could be an absolutely delicious dinner, on a red white and blue checkered table cloth, few small flowers in a vase with a venus fly trap BUT on the silverware, they'd be regular except for the tops..sterling silver combat boots for handles!
Seriously I don't think finding a publisher would be hard if we wanted to go absolutely huge. BUT we could go small and do what church groups and schools do with their cookbooks, have them pinted on smaller pages, no pics with the soft covers.
Sell them at various skinhead/punk sites...local book shops..and send a percentage to Nutter/Papaskin for the board and a percentage to Zac's fund.
I dunno, could something so insane work though?

What's so trashy about eating squirrel? If you prepare them right, they're delicious. All you have to do is:
skin and gut them
spice them up with a little salt and pepper
stuff the body cavity with sliced carrots, potatos and onion
wrap with a piece of bacon
use toothpicks to hold it all together
Wrap in tin foil
bury it in hot coals
let roast for about half an hour or til done
enjoy with a can of cold beer
Same can be done with rabbit or other small game.

My new creation.
Steaks
Some flour with some salt, pepper, garlic powder, cheyenne pepper and peperika mixed in.
Flip steaks in flower and give it a good coating, then put in large skillet on medium high heat and brown on both sides for a few minutes.
Slice up an onion and like 5 potatoes.
After steaks are seared both sides pour in a can of beef broth, a few shots of worcestershire sauce and some like a 1/3 cup water. Lay sliced onion rings over steaks then put some ketchup around and stir in sauce.
Lay potatoes over onions add a little more salt & pepper and then cook on low heat for an hour or so with a tight lid.
My recipe of the day.
