A fairly hard to find film, as far as I can determine it's out of print.
Interesting look at Madness when they were up & coming. It was filmed in 1980 but covers their history from '76 to '80. Nice peek through the window at the ska scene in London at that time. They play themselves in it. There's some fun show footage in different London boozers. The beginning is a bit slow, but the second half makes up for it.
I like early Madness quite a bit.
Others who like them as well and have never seen this, or those who have but would like to see it again, check back here or PM me.
By tomorrow I'll have something squared so I can share it with those who'd like to see it, since it's out of print anyway.
Getting to sleepy to set it up now, the ambien's kickin' in.

How long til someone mentions Ian Stuart is in it too.... Oooops?
Then we can have a whole thread about how him n Suggs were friends?
It was also re-released by Virgin in 2002...

The Horror, The Horror...

That might be an entertaining thread though, just for shit's and giggles.

I was looking for a better copy awhile back and noticed the Virgin release on Amazon UK, but none were available. I scoured high and low, the only ones I ever found were on eBay UK and going for upwards of 20 pounds. Made me think even the '02 release was no longer in print. Been awhile since I looked into it though. I have an old VHS rip, qualities not bad, good enough.

I 'll be getting one up. Was going to get that going last night but started fading, and didn't get around to setting it up yet today. I'll be getting it up sometime today.

That torrent has no seeders flathead, it's stuck at 81.7%

Thanks for that Plan Of Attack, may take you up on that so as to have a better copy.

In the meantime for those who care to watch it:

It's English with hard-coded English subs. New torrent so give it time to propagate.

You can also get a non subbed version here:

This guy has it posted to rapidshare. They show a picture of the DVD cover, but this is a VHS rip as far as I know. I sampled it and the quality is ok, same as the one I have.

For any who look at this (the rapidshare one) and don't know what to do; in brief:

Good idea to use a download accelerator like Orbit if you go this route.

The files are rar'd, You will need winrar or a similar free program to un-rar (unzip), very simple.

If you go this route but don't know what to do, put google to good use and learn something. If you still don't get it after that, ask. It's easy enough.

Didn't think it was brilliant to be honest - interesting, but not the best film ever

of course it's not brilliant :)

such film cannot be made nowadays(no matter about what band, star, whatever)

Yep, more of a novelty film, interesting if you like to nerd out on music history a bit, as I do, and I do enjoy seeing footage of the nutty boys live shows in their early days. Lots of energy. Would have loved to see them live back then.

Apparently Ian rented a room from Suggs' mom...and Suggs did security for Skrewdriver..thought this was kind of common knowledge though....not that I really care...anyway, who else here hates the night shift?

wrong, ian stayed round sugg's mums a few times when he first came to london, and suggsy was a roadie for skrewdriver, i was told by ian that bed and breakfast man was written about him, but madness obviously tell it differently, ian could have caused a lot of trouble for suggs with the pictures he has of him, hope they never come out even though suggs has turned into a right arrogant cunt
