my favorite boots are them old boots i took (stole) when i was in the army, pretty much near 20 years ago. they are used by couple of guys before me so they were comfortable all ready, leather is damn good. only bad thing is that they are way too slippery to use during wintertime.
good, basic quality boots anyway.

Lately my 10's have been making my toes go completely numb, even after I take them off. This had better not be problem in the making.
Other than that, I've always had a pair of shiny wing-tips that look good, but they too are painful as the dickens.

Gripfasts are great... If Grinders were still making their shit in the UK, I'd say go with them, because (In my opinion) they are a bit more solid in construction, and the leather doesn't strech like Gripfasts do. But, I think Gripfast has more overall quality- top to bottom, and I think they dress up better than Grinders.

For work the best you can get are West Coast. I got a pair while fighting fires about 9 years ago they could be resoled but otherwise are still in great shape. They have a life time warrenty on the uppers and you can have them made to your exact specs. A bit pricey (About $400) but how many pairs of cheap ill-fitting boots will you go through in a decade?
For going out I like the OSHA approved Doc 3 eyed shoes, they have a nice wide steel toe, and come in a size 14.

I work 12 hour shifts every day I'm scheduled and we don't really have breaks of any sort, you just go microwave your food and go back to the line.......you might end up sitting down for 20 or 30 seconds of the day. Yep, it sucks.........although I'd say standing at a door is probably worse since at least we get to walk around. Comfortable boots do help, my red wings seem to work out well, since we have to wear steel toes.

I have a pair of Shelley steel toed 3 eyes. I haven't worn them hardly as I am waiting for my stupid inserts to come in and make them even more comfy. When I first met Chris he has bought a pair of Steel 14 eye steel toed boots. They lasted 8 months. They were shit. The leather cracked in strange ways and the soles were worn flat in places. So he now has 2 pair of Shelley 14 eye steel toes. The first pair he wore for general everyday wear for a year then got a new pair and wears the first pair to work.
Both pair are holding up GREAT. Chris can tell you about them.
