Which one do you prefer?
The MA's a classic, but the CWU's got some improvements.
I've noticed the later's quite popular in europe.

The MA-1's got the classic look, but the CWU is a better jacket.....I've had both and I really couldn't make a choice on that.

I like the Alpha MA-1s, but good luck finding one that isnt made in fucking Bangladesh or someshit these days. My mum bought me my burgundy one for christmas like 4 years ago that's made in the US, but I have been hard pressed to find one since and I'm about due for a new one. :(

If you really want to pony up, you can buy the actual mil. issue MA-1's but I wear a long size and it's hard to find, however, those are all made in the USA.

When I had my CWU I had to pull my trousers up steve urkle style (complete with braces) or the thing wouldn't cover my beltline. If they ever make a long size I'll never go back.

that is the downside, but with a pair of tight jeans its pretty good. i gotta get me a harrington now i seem to be rocking dickies and sneakers all the time these days since the cwu comes up so high it will probably look goofy come winter.

I actually have a similar problem with my Alpha MA-1. An XL is too damn big, but I have to keep pulling the size L jacket down to keep it below my beltline. I guess thats the price I pay for being as tall as I am, I'll just have to hang out with the Chicago skins until I put on some weight haha.

At www.flyingtigerssurplus.com (http://www.flyingtigerssurplus.com) they sell long sizes. When I found those I had no problems with the MA-1, but the CWU isn't available in long sizes, so no matter how cool they look I'll never be too happy with them, even though it is a much better jacket.

even the quality in comparison, the cwu is a much stronger made, heavier jacket, and the protective coating/shell material is fucking heaps better.
listen to me i sound like i just bought shares in the fucken cwu pattern.

True enough.
My MA-1 is my patch jacket, and the CWU remains patchless.
I've never really had problems with the short "regular" jackets. Probably because all my jeans are quite tight.
