View Full Version : Tattoo on scars?

I've got some scars on my chest and I'm thinking of getting a tattoo that would cover these. They would be covered with one colour, not with lines or anything.

Is this possible?

Scars are unpredictable. They may soak up the ink the same as the surrounding skin, or they may reject it partially, or they may reject it totally.

The best thing to do is try to work up a design that the scars can hide in, like a dragon, where there's lots of linework and flexibility.

The problem is that I want a shield/weapon on my chest. The scars would be inked bleu...

They're not big scars or anything. Not even a fingertip.
I'll try and work something out with the artist.

Thanks, Hoon.

Are they big, raised, rope-like scars or pale, flat thin scars? Some types are easier to tattoo over than others.

An old friend of mine has a lot of acne scars on his chest but he covered them up nicely with some tattoos. The tattoos had a lot of shading in them and made the scars look invisible. He got praying hands done on one pec and I can't remember what he got on the other side. I haven't seen him for years.

I've seen some scars take ink really well, but as usual Hoon's the man! They can spit it all back out in a few days. Usual thing is that they go sorta blurry, and any detail goes mushy. Try and sort your artwork out to be vague in the scarred area, so any blemish won't be too noticable. The sort of stuff that Guy Aitchison does is perfect for that.
Cheers

Iv got a large scar on my left arm that iv had tattood over about 4 times, unfortunately like hoon says in my case its thick scar tissue so it just throws the ink back out after scabbin. but if you want to go for a tattoo over your scar good luck. it may need touchin up a few times after

Take a razor and cut the scar tissue out.

oh, yeah, putting lotion on scars helps them heal better.

Sander, a weapon (say, a mace or a sword) can still have a fair bit of shadow and detail, even along a blade.

What weapon didja have in mind?

i have surgical scars on my right forearm. scars are really lifted. i had asked the same question before and it was told to me that it depends on the scar itself. fucking sucks for me.

Best to go see your artist mate as it depends on the type of scar. I had a large keloid scar on my chest from an old wound and i had to go around that sucker, tattooing over it could have fucked it up pretty bad.

Haha, fuck. Lost in translation.
I mean a crest. We call it a 'wapen' (weapon).

I want the crest of my birthplace on my chest.
This one:

In the form of a shield.

As are large chests. ;)

Hahaha, what's wrong with it, Kev?

BTW, the artist will have room to draw up his own 'vision' of the crest. So it will probably be some old-school style shield.

Tokyohoon

So what're the scars like? That design doesn'T look like it has much room to hide anything - but an idea is forming in my head

One flat scar and one with more scar tisseu.
It's not really that I want to hide them or anything, but I want the shield in the middle of my chest and one of the scars would be about in the bottom of the shield. So it would be, like I said, just inked bleu.

Fuck, I'll draw up a picture later on. :p

Hahaha I just thought the same thing. It could only be made more "Manlier" if the hearts were replaced by teddy bears. Now THAT would be tough, mean and Ohhhhh so cute. Hahahaha

You could make it less manly and more creepy by replacing the hearts with headshots of the Gerber Baby.

I think I'll let the shield be carried by a teddybear!

Its still a bit girly though

Well, you could always do a new school twist on it.........instead of 3 plain hearts you could have 3 sacred hearts with banners or something like that........

Dutch Raven
08-28-2006, 02:52 PM
That's what I'm planning to do.
Thick lines, a bit of a twist on it. No sacred hearts though.

Ah well, I've seen plenty of guys walking around with hearts tattoos and stuff.
BTW, it's not only going to be this shield: but I want the Dutch and the Brabant flag next to it.

To be honest doc its the colours if that is what its meant to look like ........yeah 3 sacred hearts ..........or very little colour or a celticy type might make it appeal to the eye more !!

How about we get loaded one night, head off to the tattoo shop and get some matching Gerber baby heads? How fucked up would that be rollling up and showing folks your "gerb". Then we could proceed to tell them only a special elite squad of skinhead can display "The gerb". It will become like the new crucified.

"Dude..I got THE Gerb.."
"Whoah man you've only been a skin 5 years.."
"Yeah but I took my first guy down last night...e-fighting on WSN..."
"Congrats man, I can't wait to find my first on WSN".

BWHAHA!

AttitudeSkin

The Gerb would have to be on the back of our right hands, so the last thig anyone sees before getting bitchslapped into oblivion is that fucking baby flying at them.

How old are the scars? I'm gonna make a guess that the flat one is older than the otther one. Give it a bit more time (like a year) and a daily application of lotion and it will be ready for ink before you know it.

Dutch Raven

Both are the same age (just like talking about kids, here, haha).
But that might be a good idea.
