My girl sent me a copy of the article that ran in the most recent Rolling Stone magazine which defends the fucking terrorist Omar Khadr who is being held here, at Guantanamo Bay. The bullshit is that first, the fucking information from what I can gather all of the information is taken from interviews with the motherfucker's lawyers. There's no interviews with any of the troops here or any other source, as far as I can tell. Who's fucking side are they on anyway?? Why would the US hold these people at Guantanamo on an indefinate basis without some form of due process? It seems after four years any useful information would be extracted from these prisoners. If not, it seems after four years any information the prisoners are still witholding would no longer be of any value. Old intelligence is'nt worth much. I think they should be tried and sentenced or let go. I think these prisoners are only suspects being held with little or no evidence of actually being terroists or comitting such acts. The reason most are being held is they were combatants captured on the battlefield, just ordinary soldiers. The only reason they are being held is to keep them from going back and becoming real and dangerous terrorists. Eventually something is going to happen with these people. Bush will only be in office a few more years. The longer these people are incarcerated the more hate they build up. Don't you think they are even more likely to go back and become terrorists anyway? In the meantime, Guantanamo Bay is a very public, high profile, very controversial prison naturally prone to every sort of criticism and host to numerous scandals. It gives every muslim extremist a perfect reason to kill and kidnap any american, especially our soldiers, in an attempt to free these muslim soldiers from US prisons. The two Fox journalists recently kidnapped in Gaza were being held just for this purpose. This is why the existence of Guantanamo Bay is doing us much more harm than good in the war of terror.

I believe in justice and punishment for crimes commited,if the soldiers/terrorists captured can be charged for something then they should be and that is fair and fitting. is it good if people who didn't care to begin w/ go out to vote?

My answer is a resolute 'no.'

i think that election day should be a national holiday so as to be conducive to people being able to conveniently vote.

However, I think no effort should be made to 'GET OUT THE VOTE!' because it just means we get a surplus of idiots who cannot locate Brazil on a map casting ballots.

Rolling Stone was a hippie newsletter when it first started covering all aspects of what was going on during the Summer of Love(1967)....the Music was a major part of the Counter-Culture....hence the music articles. Sports Illustrated and Playboy take political stances too.

Back in the late 60's music, culture, and politics were fused together. The music was the voice of a generation that spoke anti-establishment and anti-war. Rolling Stone was the Wall Street Journal of pop-culture of that time which besides music was the lifestyle/culture and the dark heavy cloud of the Vietnam war which dominated politics but affected this generation so much more because the draft was still in effect.

Yes, I see what he is saying as well -- it would be interesting if one would have to qualify to vote, be tested, but I am certain that even if it was the most objective test in the world that asked questions about foreign countries and basic understandings of economics and anything like that, eventually it would be 'prejudiced,' and requiring a highschool diploma or a college degree or military experience to vote would also be 'prejudiced.'

Personally, there should be a control, but it would become more of a hassle than it is worth.

What's wrong with this fucking picture? So we 'tortured' him by making him uncomfortable and putting him in positions and situations that made sure he was uncomfortable and in slight pain. We didn't dump acid on him, we didn't shock him, we didn't burn him, we didn't decapitate him on live TV and broadcast it back to his family and friends at home. So I fail to see what the fuck is wrong with making this guy suffer a bit to extract information that could save more American lives. He isn't being 'tortured' around the clock, he has time to eat, sleep, shower, and say his prayers and such. Our guys are...Nick Berg...ring any bells? Jessica Lynch...idiot though she is. Countless other soldiers, now dead after being tortured, and I mean REALLY tortured. So what if this guy suffers a little bit. He chose to fight against us. He's lucky we got a hold of him before some less savory types found him.
