That's right, Kinky Friedman's running for governor.

Now wouldn't it just upset a whole lotta apple carts if he got in?

Would be awesome if he won, the Governor of Texas is mostly a ceremonial role if I'm not mistaken though.

Kinky Friedman isn't too bad of a dude.

Any candidate for governor that will openly enjoy a Guinness during a public parade on St. Patrick's Day is alright with me. Everyone saw it, and he knew it, and he didn't give a fuck.

He's really, really concerned with the big issues, and not so concerned with the small ones. In other words, he plays a more honest game of politics. I love hearing him in interviews because he's articulate about the things he knows about, and inarticulate about the things he knows nothing about. And he acknowledges that. That's a level of honesty that's hard to find in a politician.

Ever hear that news clip where George Bush was asked a question about national sovereignty, and he obviously didn't even know what sovereignty meant? That's what I'm talking about....

Me and terrormachine actually had a discussion about this at work one day a while back.

I'll probably vote for Kinky just to give the powers that be a big middle finger, although I'd rather see the Libertarian candidate win since he wants the state out of the education business. Trust me, the Legislature has totally fucked up the schools here, so that's not altogether a bad idea. My big issue w/Kinky is that he's against the death penalty......and that he's Jewish.

And Hoon, Kinky's from the Kerrville area. His family has a ranch out there that rescues abused & neglected animals. That's defintely the most beautiful part of the state out that way.

Of course he is....who isn't? I do like the fact that he would be a one term and out governor. And...he'll sign anything but bad legislation.

On a side note, his salsa is pretty good. Not as good as New Canaan Farms, but still good.

Read an article about him in Cannibis Culture, he's pro-medical marijuana which is refreshing to hear. If I was a Tejas resident, and was registered, I'd vote for him.

Put money into a trust fund for Mexican Generals that are placed in charge of zones...for every illegal that crosses, money is taken out of the general's trust fund. Doubt it would work though, they aren't going to risk getting hit for stopping the Cartel's smugglers.

It doesn't matter how much money that is taken away from the Generals funds...over the border so many people have their hands in other illegal activity that a slight salary cut because some border jumpers are getting caught, not making that big of a difference to them, they are happy to get people out of their country...more room for them, more taxes on our part
