during a "mass day of action" against carbon emissions at Britain's largest coal-fired power station........................................... ...............................

I've very mixed feelings about this one.

Britain cannot stop burning fossil fuels in Power Stations in the short to medium term without blacking out the country and killing people.

Coal will give higher CO2 emissions per kilowatt than either oil, or gas.

But wont, coal reserves last a lot longer than oil or gas, as long as we continue to generate electricity from fossil fuels; coal may be a least worse option in the long term.

Nuclear may not generate much in terms of CO2, but that is hardly a reason to call it a clean technology!
Would people be happier with Nuclear than coal burning?

I like nuclear energy as a main source while we develope alternative fuel sources.

I think the campaigners have got a fucking cheek. They're all bloody lentil munching hippy vegans whose own arse gas and oral hot wind output is enough to burn a hole in the ozone layer bigger than their inflated opinions of themselves.

haha! you guys are awesome. but what are lories?

i don't know a lot about this, but from what i've read, nuclear energy seems to be too big of a gamble, namely because it produces all kinds of waste that nobody knows what the fuck to do with, or even it's long term effects. so i'd say invest in other (multiple sources of) clean energy while gradually weaning society off of fossil fuels.. this will need to be done sooner or later anyway.

Getting away from reliance of oil is paramount here I believe....
Its a difficult decision though...waste is getting out of control and though its seen as a hippy concern it really does affect everybody(and their childrens future....)

...Peace....

I believe nuclear is the mass energy way forward at the moment, that may change as technology seeks out new and weird stuff.

Harnessing the huge tides we have around our coastline would be a better approach in the long run.....but the hippy, long haired trendy, wishy washy liberal do-gooders will probably complain that by harnessing the tide we've upset the natural habitat of a bit of seaweed or a plankton. These people recycle their own shit for Gods sake. (Although I have stayed in a jungle hut that was made from elephant crap and it was reasonably cosy  )

they're all full of shit, protesters are always fucking dippy rich spoilt bastards who go on about never been taken alive and resistance to the police or something and then cry about police brutality whilst showing about as much resistance as a limp dick haha. I love watching the police kick the fuck out of them to be honest.

There was a big scuffle with police in manchester couple of weeks back with the SWP it made me piss mysides watching police chase students and lecturers around using CS-Gas whilst the commies yelled bout police oppression.

But yeah it does affect our kids and the next generation and nuclear stuff does create a lot of waste, but less waste than fossil fuels? either way we're creating waste to be honest so whichever way uses less might be better? it is a hippy subject.

i think there are some real issues with pollution, but some are entirely fabricated. for instance: i do not like that i cannot go and take a swim in certain rivers, that is a problem, i also do not like that in korea you NEED bottled water or specially purified water because normal water is shit...

But by and large, I am not effected by all of these things like 'smog' or 'acid rain.' They are all cleverly named things that mean nothing. Acid rain makes buildings age quicker and may stain them... so what? smog will kill you... when you are 70 or 80, maybe, but sorry, i am not concerned about making it to 90-something and wearign diapers.

there will always be a surplus of large parks because people simply like them. we have no real environmental threats.

other than not being able to swim in some streams and nto being able to drink water out of the faucet, i am entirely unimpressed with environmentalism.

When the ice cap melts and turns half your country into a permanant underwater world, perhaps you will be impressed?
