Alright then. I posted the pics on the old board but I'll lay it our for those who don't recal. I got two pieces done. One on each hand about 3/4 months ago now. During that sit I also had "HARD LUCK" inked accross my knuckles. They seemingly held pretty well but after about 2 weeks, they just completely faded into oblivion. You couldn't even tell they were done. So finally, last wednesday I went back and had them re-done, which I was charged for despite my rampid protesting. Anyways, It's been a little over a week now and the same thing has happened once again. I have NEVER had a problem anywhere else on my body. I take proper care of my ink and they usually hold up first sit, no problems. Now the whole process seemed uncomfortably painless now might he not be going in far enough and the skin just sheds out the ink or is there something else that might be ammiss here? any help with the matter is greatly appreciated. First order of business though is if I find out IT IS his fault and I was charged twice for the same fuck up I WILL break the cardinal rule of tattoos and demand my money back and pay for it from a better artist.

What do you do for a living? (ie what do are your fingers regularly subjected to?)

You got charged for touchups? See a different artist.

Yeah, I've got to agree here.

A good artist should never charge for a touch up, his fault or not.

yea a good artist should not charge for a touchup..especially if its on the hands

hand tattoos require a lil more attention.......well the fingers and sides of hands dont stay to well. The skin is very rough and can sometimes require to be done up to 3-4 times to actually stay. I dont know anybody that hasnt had there knucks touched up at least twice.

edit: your artist really is a dick though for not doing it for free

As noted above, hands can take repeated applications - the more you work with your hands or wear gloves, the more difficult it is to get the ink to stay.

That being said:

1) Your guy is a douchebag. I have only ever ONCE charged for a touchup, and that was 'cause the guy changed his mind on a black and grey piece and wanted me to colour it in. Figured that qualified more as a change. Hell, I went to get a couple of pieces touched up nearly 20 years after the fact at a place in Vancouver because they had faded a little, and the guy didn't charge me for that even though it took him three hours to cover everything.

2) If you're barely feeling it over your knucks, the chickenshit isn't going deep enough.

I figured the kid wasn't going deep enough. I've got enough tattoos to know when it's being done right or not but I wasn't so sure that I would get on him about it at the time, I needed to know for sure first, which I didn't. Now, When I got them done the first time I was aware that they would fade quite a bit because I worked at a plant builing Trucks so gloves/diesel fuel/coolant etc... were all factors that led to the original dissapearance but the second time I had no job so working with my hands was limited to maybe some chores around the house or pumping gas.....So I'm going to go take my money back tomorrow when he's in the shop whether he likes it or not. I only have pictures of the original ones but I have no way to get pictures of the after effects.....sorry, but thanks for the help with this one guys........and gals.

If there's any bother, give him a good close up of those knuckles.

I got a tatt on the side of my head and another across my throat. I didn't fell much on either, but I sure noticed when I got my knucks done. besides catching a BB direct in the eyeball, it would be next on the pain scale for me (so far. got more room to work with yet.) besides going to another artist, spread the word about the bad one.
