I meant modern as in "didn't come out 20 years ago". It's definitely a throwback to the '80s and early '90s.

Riff Raff, Justice, Career Suicide, Hold Fast, Iron Age, Lights Out, Ceremony, there's some others...

All the above bands sound different, sure, but in some way or another they're a throwback to an older sound.

Honestly, i think the whole Lockin Out fad to be a bit boring. I think justice was a second rate mental, and live they were just annoying. Not to mention the "Go Veggie." shirts were gay as fuck.

Hold fast, Iron Age, and anything from texas is backed hard. And lights out is the fucking shit.

I'm not crazy about Lockin' Out, but I like Justice. There was rumor they were gonna put out the Coptic Times stuff (me and the guys from Bitter Tongues and Hold Fast), but we play so little it would be a waste ('cause Matt's in Iron Age, too).

Looks like Hold Fast is done, too. I think we're playing our last show in November.

I think you should have me sing for your next band. We can call ourselves The Dettles and have songs like "Punch You in the Nose" and "How Does that Effect Me?" I'll wear a mullet onstage and smoke Marlboro Lights.....and not do any work.

yeah thats kinda why i said teen idles not "teen idols" . Iron cross stuff is fuzzy and raw in the recording and generally doesn't quite fit with other DC hardcore too much.

Mental where really good live, but i was sold at all on their Last LP it had a quicksand/farside thing going on thats not too much my thing.

"Coptic Times stuff" that sounds intresting, what you play/do?

The Roadie from outbreak had a cool Iron Age Hoody on the other night, made me wanna try and trade him my Lights Out Hoody for it haha

Hey young'un, I was around back then and hardly anyone appreciated them back then. Remember, we didn't have the internet or reissue complete studio session cd's. You had to actually order the 4 old 7" lp from Dischord or hope to God the local record shop carried it.

yeah i respect that,i still do 80% of my record buying from gigs/trades/mailorder i dont but off the net and i dont buy from chain stores etc kinda cheapens the whole purpose of records.

I like the teen idles just for how sheer fast and pissed off it sounds for 1981,i mean if they hadn't have gone on to be in minor threat they'd be another KBD band or some lame collector shit.

Unfortunely, here in Austin, we lost the greatest record store ever, Record(aka Sound) Exchange. I can't tell you how many records I bought there over the years, from the Minot Threat singles to Hail the New Dawn. They closed it down to open a burrito shop....too close to campus and rent too high.

shit, that sounds like it would have been a good shop, all the good shops always close down around here and turn into shitty coffee houses or "retro" clothing shops for idiots.

Fucking jealous bout you having minor threat 7's haha, you ever see verbal abuse back in the day? i saw them this year in california, wasn't too impressed tho.

Yeah, I saw both Nikki's VA & the metal VA back in the 80's. I saw them about two years ago after he got out w/the Offenders. You know, it's true, you can't relive your youth no matter how hard you try. I enjoyed the show, but it was pitiful in its own way.

By the way, I sold my MT 7"....Filler I sold to Henry Rollins. Got over $200 for each one. Not a bad return on a $5 investment 20 years ago.

I've pretty much sold everything that was worth a dime. I had a Code of Honor lp once, but I remember it sucking. I sold my Sick Pleasure 7", Big Boys first lp, both MT 7" and other stuff I can't remember. If you would've told me 5 years ago I would do that, I'd told you you were nuts. See what fatherhood, old age and cd reissues do to ya?

Oh yeah, I'm not selling any of my RAC stuff and selected hardcore albums that have meaning to me.

haha man its cool about getting older and shit, its like i'm 22,when im in my thirties i'll probally have sold a lot of my vinyl and bought some cd re-issues the rate that vinyl prices are going up at and the fact ive got doubles of all the rev stuff and the schism press of new york crew by judge

The code of honor LP by themselves fucking sucks, the split with sick pleasure is my holy grail piece,i like the big boys, just was never down for the dicks, always bored me.

Dude i won't sell the limited amount of RAC i have haha, its mainly skrewdriver (first 3 7's and first LP+voice of britain and boots and braces),YDL and No Remorse i'm after the arresting officers-patriotic voice on vinyl though because i don't buy CD's.
