wonder that too.
Sideburns were popular in 68-72 (the whole skinhead/suedehead/bootboy thing when I was a boy)...in the 77/79 revival there were a few about with them but they were very much like the style from 68-72, thin and down to the bottom of the ear max...the younger skins in the photos, mainly 79-82/83 didnt really go in for it but there were exceptions (Deptford John in Combat 84)... the real big sideburns from what I've seen on here and elsewhere in the web seemed to be much more popular in the US...what the fuck, I cant believe I'm on here with a fucking history of the sideburn!!!! Yeah, it's been awhile so some of my facts may be fuzzy, but I believe he actually committed suicide. They made a movie about him. In the movie he was a skinhead, but I believe in real life he was a KKK member. From what I read on the subject, the other KKK guys figured out he was Jewish by heritage a while before he was outed as Jewish, but they didn't kick him out. Either they had decided that they liked him for some reason and decided not to ostracize him, but most seemed to just scratch their head and thought he was crazy. I believe he committed suicide after he was outed as being Jewish because he feared he wouldn't be accepted by his "KKK brothers" any more.
I must admit, that as flags go, I do like the design for the Confederate flag. I think it's well done. On the other hand, being a northerner, I would never fly it, even though I'm a big believer in states rights. It's meaning through time has evolved due to long association with KKK members and other segregationists. My great great grandfather fought for the Confederacy, and I still wouldn't fly it.
Shortly after I moved to New York, some old Jewish holocaust survivor was caught in a city park dressed as an SS soldier shooting a pistol at his grandson who was hiding up in a tree. Crazy shit happens in this topsy turvy world of ours.

Nope. This was about a guy who was a a-political or SHARP Skin. Some WP crew told them they could OR join them OR get their asses kicked. So, the crew joined the WP gang.
After a while they found out he was a jew and they gave him a good kicking. He was left for dead at some beach or in the sea or something.

Yeah, it put on plenty of gigs. In the early 80s it was being used by the Road Rats who, if I remember rightly, provided 'security' that night. There's older, more local blokes who could tell you more about tthe Road Rats though.

Oh, I don't know about that! I've been told it was.
There was certainly a bit of sieg heiling and a couple of stage invasions but that was about it really... Pretty much like the first time I saw Bad Manners.
I know what you mean, I was at the Great Yarmouth scooter rally in 1985 when the NF stormed the stage and took out Desmond Dekker. It was absolute kaos, NF skins with face masks on and lots of sieg heiling. And to make it worse they recon that the door staff were in on it all.

Gabbers over here sport the confederate flag all the time. They have absolutely no clue what it means but sew it on everything. They think confederate flag = pro racism.
Yep inbreed culture indeed.
It's a symbol of scottish culture, southern culture and for me represents heritage not hate.
So all scottish people and southern people are inbreeds??? So it's our fault a bunch of fucking retards choose to use it for other reasons??? Just go put your foot in your mouth now please.

I think, no I know, you misinterpeted what he was saying. He was ranting about gabbers, not about the Southern States, culture, flag or anything else.

As a Damn Yankee, I'm genuinely curious as to how the Confederate flag is part of Scottish culture.

The design was take from the Cross of St. Andrews flag and they added to it. A huge lot of southern settlers were Scottish and Irish so you go figure. They also before battle would sew a small square of there familys tartan to there uniforms so if they should die in battle people would get word back.
My family has been in the south for many generations. I've learned alot about all kinds of history down here.

Well 9 times out of 10 when they make reference to the flag and use the word inbreed they are making a comment about southern people. Thats what I was talking about.

Guess I shoulda figured that. I knew that alot of southern folks were Scots but just never put the Confederate flag with that. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, and the flag that is considered the Flag of the Confederate States was merely one of the battle flags used by the South.
Wikipedia has an interesting article on the various flags of the Confederacy.

That was some good flag history. I don't much trust Wiki but the references were pretty good.
